Providence and The strength and conditioning program at Providence College is incredible. From the facilities to the coaching, it is all first-class. It helped me to improve my game as I got stronger and faster each of my four years in Friartown. Bryce Cotton 14 Utah Jazz
College Strength Conditioning Located in Concannon Fitness Center, the Jimmy Walker Strength & Conditioning Center is a 5,000 square foot facility and serves all of the Friars intercollegiate athletic teams. The facility is designed to provide the athletes with all the resources needed to allow them to physically develop to compete and contend at the highest level of intercollegiate athletics. Located just steps from the multi-purpose turf field, it allows easy access to incorporate agility, speed and conditioning within the strength session.
Canavan Sports The Canavan Sports Medicine facility occupies 4,000 square feet of space. Used as the primary sports medicine facility for our 320 student-athletes, this state-of-the-art area includes nine treatment tables with assorted modality equipment, office space for the eight certified athletic trainers on staff as well as two physician clinic offices where primary care, orthopedic, chiropractic and podiatric physicians evaluate our student-athletes on a weekly basis. A large rehab/exercise area and a hydro-therapy area which includes a SwimEx rehab pool along with an eight person cold plunge and an eight-person hot plunge is available for the athletes.
Medicine Center
Concannon Fitness Center The $12 million Concannon Fitness Center is an ideal training facility for today s top athletes. The newly constructed stateof-the-art facility provides 13,850 square feet of dedicated fitness space, along with 5,000 square feet dedicated to the student athletes who compete in varsity athletics. The Fitness Center offers a variety of cardiovascular and aerobic exercise equipment with personalized entertainment screens with cable television throughout the two-level facility. Likewise, strength machines and free weights of varying fitness levels can be found on the upper and lower levels to meet the needs of all the athletes.
Alumni Hall Alumni Hall has served as the home of Providence basketball since Since the Friars began play at the Dunkin Donuts Center in 1972, the on-campus building has served as the team s practice facility. In 2012, Mullaney Gym was completely renovated with new baskets, new seating, video boards, sound system, lighting, scorer s table, HVAC, and many other amenities. Over the last several years, renovations totaling over $4,000,000 have been made for improvements to the team s sports medicine facility, the ticket office and lockerrooms. The coaching staff s offices, film room and team s locker room are among the other renovations that have been completed. One of the premier annual events at Alumni Hall is the team s Late Night Madness celebration. Started in 1985 to a crowd of over 300, Late Night Madness now sells out each and every year with more than 3,000 fans in attendance.
Providence Providence College was founded in 1917 through a joint effort of the Diocese of Providence and the Dominican Friars of the Province of St. Joseph, with the blessing of Pope Benedict XV and the consent of the General Assembly of the State of Rhode Island. Ninety-eight years later, Providence College has steadily moved to a position of national prominence, while maintaining a personal, community-like atmosphere that fosters growth and development among its student population. Located in the state capital of Rhode Island, the Providence College campus sits on 101 acres in the northern end of town, just 10 minutes from the heart of the city.

Big East Playing in the BIG EAST means playing against the best - The BEST Players The BEST Coaches The BEST Conference in College Basketball. To be the best, you have to test yourself against the best. When you play in the BIG EAST, you re playing at the highest level in collegiate athletics. The BIG EAST Conference is one of the most recognizable Division I conferences in the country. Formed in 1979, the league represents the athletic interests of 10 member institutions: Butler University, Creighton University, DePaul University, Georgetown University, Marquette University, Providence College, Seton Hall University, St. John s University, Villanova University and Xavier University. Each year, at the conclusion of the regular s eason all 10 teams gather in New York City for the BIG EAST Championship. It is multiple days of action-packed college basketball, played in historic Madison Square Garden. In fact, the Garden has been the home of the BIG EAST Tournament for so many years that it s the longest running college basketball postseason tournament played at the same venue. With all the intense competition and dramatic games that players experience during the conference season and tournament, it is no surprise that the BIG EAST has always been a force in the NCAA Tournament. The league regularly sends multiple teams to MARCH MADNESS and many of the member schools have made deep runs in the tournament. Eight of the 10 BIG EAST programs have made it all the way to the Final Four and all 10 have reached the Sweet Sixteen.
Conference Media Attention If you like MEDIA ATTENTION, if you like playing on TELEVISION, if you like being INTERVIEWED, Providence College is the place for you! Nearly every Friar game is televised. Each season, the team is featured nationally on FOX Sports 1, ESPN, ESPN2 and CBS. In addition, over 200 newspaper and radio and television stations cover PC each season. Plus, playing in the BIG EAST Conference means that you ll be playing in the MOST TELEVISED LEAGUE in the country! Under the broadcast partnership, FOX Sports 1 has television rights to a wide range of marquee BIG EAST basketball games, including the annual BIG EAST tournament.
The Ocean
State Make no mistake, as soon as you land at the airport or cross the state line, you are in FRIARTOWN. The state of Rhode Island is comprised of hard-working, family-oriented people who are Friar Fanatics. And make no mistake, you are in the most unique state in the country. Rhode Island has the country s best beaches, a beautiful New England coastline, country charm, city life advantages in Providence, the mansions in Newport, American history in every town, and, of course, the Providence College Friars.
Providence Basketball In The Community Being a Providence College student-athlete involves more than just academics and athletics. It involves the community and helping others. Head Coach Ed Cooley and the Friars get involved with organizations such as the Down Syndrome Society of Rhode Island, Ryan Gomes Hoops for Heart Health, Special Olympics, Rhode Island Foster Parent Association, Boys and Girls Club of Providence and Upward Bound, to name a few. Whether it is charity golf outings, reading to school children, visiting hospitals, serving as mentors or helping the less fortunate, the Providence College Friars are there for the community.
