2 52 ND PASR STATE CONVENTION October 4-7, 2015 Sheraton Station Square 300 West Station Square Drive Pittsburgh, PA Telephone: 1(800) GENERAL INFORMATION The 52nd Annual PASR Convention will be held at the Sheraton Station Square, Pittsburgh, PA, beginning Sunday, October 4, through Wednesday, October 7, Region 12 (Allegheny and Pittsburgh Chapters) has been busy planning PASR's activities and programs complete with guest speakers, and special events. The following data will update you as to our plans, and we ask you to specifically pre-register for the special events being offered throughout the Convention. Your early response will enable us to better plan for these activities. RESERVATIONS HOTEL REGISTRATION: Reservation forms for Sheraton Station Square are enclosed and should be made no later than September 3, Hotel rooms will be reserved on a first-come basis. The room rates for this Convention are per room, per night: $ Single $ Double $ Triple $ Quad All reservations must be guaranteed for late arrival and secured with a deposit equal to the first night s room and tax or with a major credit card. The Hotel will not hold any reservations unless secured by the above method. Please identify yourself as part of the PASR Group when making your reservation. CONVENTION FORMS: The enclosed Convention Registration/Activities Reply Form, State Seminar Form, Personal Enrichment Form, and the Banquet Seating Form should be SENT TO PASR HEADQUARTERS, 878 CENTURY DRIVE, MECHANICSBURG, PA These forms should be completed and returned by SEPTEMBER 3, RESERVATION GUARANTEE AND CANCELLATIONS: A 72-hour cancellation policy is in effect for individual rooms. Reservations that are cancelled after 3 p.m., 72-hours prior to arrival, will be responsible in full for room and tax charges of room reserved. (Be sure to record your cancellation number.) **PLEASE NOTE** CHECK-IN TIME FOR HOTEL ROOMS IS NOT UNTIL 3 P.M. (Check-out time is 12 p.m.) Guests arriving prior to 3 p.m. will be accommodated as rooms become available. The Guest Services Staff can arrange to check baggage for those arriving early when rooms are not available and for guests attending functions on departure day.

6 TOUR DESCRIPTIONS: 1.The Heinz History Center, an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institute, is an educational institution. It links the past to understanding in the present, and guidance for the future by preserving regional history and presenting the American experience. The second and third floors celebrates Western Pennsylvania's unsurpassed sports legacy (football, baseball, hockey, and golf). 2.Burgh Bits and Bites is a Strip District Market Tour which features a behind- the- counter look at a variety of eateries linking local history with eating establishments. Taste samples from around the world including Italian pastries, Mediterranean and Polish specialities, European meats and French bread. Options for trips 1 and 2 after the tour a. Shop and eat dinner in the Strip District or b. Wiggle Whiskey Distillery Tour Join us on a tour to get a taste of the good stuff. We'll show you how we go from organic, local grain to full flavored, award winning whiskey, gin, and rum. By the end you'll be steeped in whiskey knowledge, and Western Whiskey Rebellion lore. 3. Oakland tour a. Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall and Museum is one of Pittsburgh's oldest and best known historical landmarks. It is the nation's only military memorial dedicated to honoring men and women of all branches of service and all capacities. b. Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens displays the vibrant hues, tantalizing textures, and strange shapes of some of Earth's most wired and wonderful specimens. 4. North Side Tour a. The Andy Warhol Museum houses seven floors of drawings, prints, paintings, sculpture, film and video as well as an extensive archive of ephemera, source materials, and other documents of Warhol's life. Other artists are featured. b. PNC Park, voted the best ballpark in the country, is home to the Pittsburgh Pirates. It is an intimate, classic-style ballpark that embraces the progressiveness of Pittsburgh while saluting the spirit of early ballpark originals. Its scenic vistas of -6-

7 downtown and the riverfront create an exciting and dramatic urban sports venue. c. Heinz Field is home to the Pittsburgh Steelers and the University of Pittsburgh Panthers. The stadium was designed with the City of Pittsburgh's history of steel production in mind. A collection of memorabilia can be found in the great hall. Optional visit to The Rivers Casino is available after the tour. Gamble, eat dinner, and enjoy the facility. 5. Take a self-guided tour of downtown. Materials will be provided. 6. Segway in Paradise makes it fun and interesting to visit the golden triangle. You will have a blast zooming around the streets. Before the tour, you will be trained on the transporter. A transporter is a self-balancing personal transportation device with two wheels. 7. Visit Mt. Washington: Tour the Duquesne Incline. This includes: a pictorial history of Pittsburgh industry, inclines, sports venues, and natural disasters, and a visit to the machine room to observe the original hoisting equipment from Continue walking along Mt. Washington and enjoy the panoramic view of downtown. Eat in one of a number of wonderful restaurants. 8. Step aboard a vintage 1920's style trolley, operated by Molly's Trolley, and experience Pittsburgh with a fully guided tour. 9. Lights, Camera, Movie! Calling all movie buffs; celebrate the "Hollywood of the East" where movies and film crews abound! Enjoy an interactive tour through Pittsburgh backdrops of movies such as The Dark Knight Rises, Flashdance, and many more. 10. Just Ducky Tours takes riders on Pittsburgh's only adventure through the city on land and water. The guides on the duck boat, DUKW in military terms, entertain you with fun facts and jokes!
