CITY-WIDE SPRING CLEAN-UP Stafford MSD would like to encourage you to participate in the annual Stafford City-Wide Clean-Up on Saturday, April 8. STAFFORD HIGH ROBOTICS FEATURED IN FORT BEND STAR The Stafford High Robotics Team was recognized during Monday s SMSD Board of Trustees Meeting. Earlier in the month, they were featured TWICE in the Fort Bend Star for their efforts. Stafford MSD Superintendent Dr. Robert Bostic initiated the Robotics Program at Stafford MSD as a way to enhance STEM Education (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) in the District. BUSINESSES, COMMUNITY INVITED TO DRONES & SCONES
3 ON FRIDAY, APRIL 28 Stafford MSD is hosting Drones & Scones from 8-9:30 a.m. on Friday, April 28 to introduce local businesses and residents to the advances that the District has made in Technology over the past few years. 5 Stafford High senior Peter Gao earned the Numbers Sense (Mathematics) Competition Championship at the UIL Competition in Wharton on Friday. Gao is headed to Dartmouth College, an Ivy League School in Hanover, New Hampshire in the fall. His teammates Dung Trinh (fourth), Jason Luong (sixth) and Vy Nguyen (eighth) also placed in the Top 10 in the competition. STAFFORD BOYS SOCCER ADVANCES TO SECOND ROUND The Stafford High Boys Soccer Team defeated West Columbia, 4-1, in the first round of the UIL Class 4A Playoffs on Thursday night. The Spartans will meet Navasota in the second round with the time, date and location to be determined. SHS Boys repeated as District Co-Champions. The SHS Girls had a strong season under first-year head coach Angel Maldonado, an SMSD alum. They reached the playoffs, but lost to West Columbia in the first round on Thursday night.
7 SMSD BUS DRIVER OF THE YEAR: ISABEL PEREZ Stafford MSD Superintendent Dr. Robert Bostic and SMSD Operations Director Jaci Phenix honored the SMSD Bus Driver of the Year, Isabel Perez, at Monday s Board Meeting. STAFFORD SOFTBALL MAKES HISTORY
8 The Stafford High Softball Team made history in its District Opener last week when the Lady Spartans defeated Needville, the No. 8 Team in the State Class 4A Rankings, It was the first time the SHS Varsity Softball Team had ever defeated Needville, a program that has made numerous trips to the State Semifinals.HONORING COACH MESA The Stafford High Baseball Program, along with Mission4Mike (a non-profit started to honor the memory of the late, great Coach Michael Mesa) honored Coach Mesa before Tuesday s District Opener vs. Columbus.
9 Before the game, Coach Mesa s son, Leandro, threw out the ceremonial First Pitch as Coach Mesa s fiancé, Laura, watched proudly. BASEBALL, SOFTBALL RENOVATIONS Thanks to the dedicated leadership of SMSD Operations Director Jaci Phenix and her team, the Baseball and Softball programs received renovations in terms of netting and a wall at their respective stadiums.
