1 Principal Surveys of Beginning Teachers Beginning Fall 2018, Texas Education Agency (TEA) and the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) will include in the accreditation results of each Educator Preparation Program (EPP), the principal surveys completed on all first-year teachers. A survey form is collected by TEA from principals in April through June each year evaluating each new teacher to determine whether the teacher was Well Prepared, Sufficiently Prepared, Not Sufficiently Prepared, or Not At All Prepared by the teacher s EPP. In the past few years, TEA released only raw data of the surveys since the data was not included in accreditation calculations. See TEA s website: r_resources/ Had the results been counted, UHCL would have scored an 85% for Well Prepared and Sufficiently Prepared in For , the data calculations will count toward each program s accreditation ratings. Each EPP must have at least 75% of their teacher education completers from meet the standards on the survey. The requirement rises to 80% in , 85% in , and 90% in and beyond. It also requires that the standard be met by each demographic group. The 40-question survey is shown below.
