Make some baked goods for your neighbor (s). Pay for the person behind you at the drive-thru. Run an errand for someone. Introduce yourself to someone you always see around. Donate blood. Offer a person in need your leftovers from a restaurant. Each time you get a new piece of clothing donate an old one. or write an old teacher who made a difference in your life. Smile at someone on the street, just because. Talk to the shy person who s sitting by themselves. Write someone a letter, like a real letter, on paper: and mail it. Put sticky notes with positive sayings on the mirrors in restrooms. Volunteer to read to kids at a library. Donate or recycle your old electronics. Play board games with senior citizens at a nursing home. Compliment someone in front of others. Say thank you to a janitor. Make plans with that person you ve been putting off seeing. Offer to return a shopping cart to the store for someone loading groceries in their car. MalheurCounty4H

There are still a number of 4-H and FFA members who have not picked up their thank you lists, turned in your thank yous or picked up your checks from the Market Livestock Sale. This is very important to get done! Thank yous need to done in a timely manner from the event Checks are void after December 14th That is only 36 days to get in to get those checks Please take note on the calendar of days closed so you don t come to town expecting to get your check. SALE CHECKS ARE IN!

3 INFORMATION FROM THE FAIR Letter from the Fair Manager Dear 4-H (FFA) families and Friends of the Fair, As the end of the year approaches, before the holidays consume us all, I wanted to thank you all for your help this year. My first year has been a whirlwind, to say the least! I could not have made it through without your help and the Fair Board s support. Below is what I sent out this spring as the projects that were on the short list: The Fair Board and I have been working SO hard to make the fair look better; the problem is all I can see are the projects still to be completed. But with the list printed out it appears that we did make some progress. As 2016 winds down and you and your families set aside donation monies, to offset paying taxes, please keep the Malheur County Fair in mind, not only with money but also equipment donations would be appreciated. Together we can make these fairgrounds the center of the community once again. 1. Puncture vine under control 2. Caretaker s house repaired 3. Milk parlor turned into shower stalls $25, Girvin Hall s restroom/showers refurbished 5. Asphalt/concrete down in Girvin Hall $30, HUGE flower pots, next to animal barns, down through food area & horse area 7. ALL barns painted 8. Work on the wash racks 9. Horse stalls filled in 10. Horse barns re-roofed $40, New lights in the Commercial Building $15,000 New floor in Commercial Building $20,000 ALSO: We are looking for 2-3 new Board members. Please call me (or a current Board member) if you or someone you know would be willing to serve the community in this capacity. 6 MALHEUR COUNTY 4-H Veterinary Feed Directive Seminar: NEW ANTIBIOTIC RULES FOR LIVESTOCK Monday December 12 6:00 pm As of January 2017, Oregon livestock producers must comply with a new federal law which fundamentally changes the way feed-grade antibiotics are used in their operations: The Veterinary Feed Directive. This seminar will answer questions about the new law, including the livestock operator s or caretaker s responsibilities and classifications of medications which are affected and not affected by the VFD.
