But no matter how beautiful it is outside, we here at Belmont Village are hard at work making sure we dot all our i s and cross all our t s. As you may already know, we have been doing an audit of our resident files. Many of you have received documents from us that we need completed in order to be in compliance with the State of California as a licensed senior living community. We sincerely thank everyone who has already filled out and returned those forms to us. If you have not already done so, please return those to us as soon as possible. Alethea Cono, of our Community Relations team, has been spearheading this project. She is a resident of Burbank, and has been a hard-working member of our team for a year now. She loves the task of checking resident names off her list as your completed documents come in, so please help us keep her smiling! We wanted to take this opportunity to address a rather sobering, but important subject matter. Many of you have heard the high-profile news reports about another senior living community that did not perform CPR on one of its residents who stopped breathing and ended up passing away. The place where this occurred had a No CPR policy, but is not a Belmont Village property. Please know that it is Belmont Village policy to perform CPR on our residents. The only exception to this rule is if the resident has a Do Not Resuscitate order on file with us. If you have a Living Will that you would like to keep on file with us, please bring it to the office, and we will make sure all your instructions are put in the file for safekeeping. If you have questions or concerns about any of the above matters, please feel free to contact me anytime. Thank you, and happy spring!

7 From the Wellness Center Make your own recovery the first priority in your life. ~ Robin Norwood It s time to celebrate April as National Occupational Therapy Month. Occupational Therapy (OT) helps people across the lifespan participate in the things they want and need to do through the therapeutic use of everyday activities. Occupational Therapy helps people recovering from injury to regain skills and provides support for older adults experiencing physical and cognitive changes. OT typically includes an individual evaluation to determine the goals, intervention to improve the person s ability to perform daily activities, and outcomes evaluation to ensure that the goals are being met and/or make changes to the intervention plan. Falls are the leading cause of injury in adults over the age of 65. Clutter and other tripping hazards, poor balance, and distractions can all cause a person to stumble and fall. Some people become so afraid of falling that they stop doing the things they used to enjoy. An occupational therapy practitioner uses your daily activities as the basis of therapy to help ensure that you can safely do the things you want and need to do. Your mental, physical and emotional well-being is important to the Belmont Village family! Wellness Dates April 2: 1 p.m. Town Hall Podiatrist visit.
