1 Department of Athletics Corporate Partner Program
2 Dear Prospective Partner, Fort Lewis College and Skyhawk Athletics are proud to be one of the winningest programs in NCAA Division II athletics. I would like to invite you to join me and the dozens of Durango and La Plata County businesses who have supported and continue to support Fort Lewis College Athletics over the years. Skyhawk Athletics programs have much to be proud of regionally and nationally. Five of our teams have been ranked in the national Top 25 teams during the past few years: men s and women s basketball, men s and women s soccer, and men s golf. In 2011, our men s soccer team won their third NCAA Division II national championship after having won in 2005 and 2009 and finished as NCAA Division II runners-up in 1999 and Our women s basketball team has been consistently ranked in the NCAA Division II Top 10 the past four years and was the NCAA Division II runner-up in The men s basketball team was named Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Champions, RMAC tournament champions and received a bid to the NCAA tournament in the season, followed by a repeat appearance in the NCAA Tournament in The Fort Lewis College cycling program, which competes at the USA Cycling Division I level, has won 21 national championships in mountain biking, road racing, and cyclo-cross. The Cycling team has been ranked USA cycling s #1 Division I team in the nation four times. But our success isn t limited to championships. The women s basketball team had the highest GPA in the country in 2012; at 3.715, this GPA topped all levels of college basketball, including NCAA Divisions I, II and II, NAIA, and junior colleges. Forty-two Skyhawks student-athletes earned the Division II Athletics Directors Association Academic Achievement Award Recognition. The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference recognized eighteen students from Fall 2015 varsity sports by naming them to the All-Academic Team: five from volleyball, four from football, seven from women s soccer, and two from men s soccer. Fort Lewis College attracts nearly 4,000 students from all 50 states, from more than 100 sovereign Native American nations, and from around the world. Whalen Gymnasium alone welcomes more than 100,000 visitors for home athletic events, graduations, concerts, camps, and other activities. Come join the rewards of our community partnership program and be a part of Skyhawk Athletics exciting athletics program. I have put the enclosed packet together for you.
