3 PRESENTATION OF YEAR S ACCOMPLISHMENTS YEAR-END REVIEW Participated in annual downtown MH Events SpringFest Arts & Music Festival (formerly Autumn on Main) Mount Hollydays Represented MHHS at Hoyle Historic Homestead s annual Open House Completion of our first Long Range Plan ( ) 3

4 PRESENTATION OF YEAR S ACCOMPLISHMENTS Began using Past Perfect software to catalog our collection. Approximately 25% complete. Installed phone # with voice mail. Purchased large digital TV to display photos in Collection. Intern from Belmont Abbey began visiting local churches to collect information / archives for Church Room. Included MHHS information in Newcomer packages for home buyers in a few neighborhoods. 4

5 PRESENTATION OF YEAR S ACCOMPLISHMENTS Continued with sales in MHHS Gift Shop of Annual Founder s Day Commemorative T-shirts, the Images of America: Mount Holly, pictorial history book written by Love, Beatty, and Rhyne, and DVD copies of historic 1936 Mt. Holly film by H. Lee Waters. Added MH hats as a new item. Renovated Lobby. Created new exhibit space by removal of old teller windows. New paint and carpeting for former Water Dept. area, hallway and Church Room. Repainted hallway, Church and School Rooms. 5

6 PRESENTATION OF YEAR S ACCOMPLISHMENTS Oral Histories Project continued with more interviews of persons from Mount Holly community who are 80+ years of age; participants are still being added to list Held consistent monthly work days for general tasks as well as archival tasks on 3 rd Saturday; Museum is also open to public from 10 am to 1 pm. April began regular open hours from 10 am to 1 pm every Saturday. Docents provided by members of the Mt. Holly Book Club and other volunteers. 6

Holly High School 1969 Class Reunion, participation in MH Arts & Music Festival OCTOBER: GASTON COUNTY HISTORIC PRESERVATION BY LUCY PENEGAR NOVEMBER: THE WWII AMERICAN INFANTRY SOLDIER IN EUROPE BY AL KIRBY & photo display for MH veterans (photos of all MH vets are needed) DECEMBER: no meeting 2015 to be determined 31

32 Remaining Planning Items from Long Range Plan for 2014 Have an Open House and Photo day together to showcase our most current renovations/displays; have volunteers on hand to copy and document photos brought in by community. Work with City to provide better signage for MHHS building. Prepare and display theme in the lobby. Develop a welcome table in the lobby with brochures and other materials. Vary displays periodically. Develop a Mount Holly timeline exhibit. 32

33 Planning Items from Long Range Plan for 2015 Genealogy classes; hold classes on a Saturday in line with new hours of operation; class would be held in closed meeting room for privacy. Create a Mount Holly history calendar of important historic events. Commemorate at least one MH historic milestone each month with a photo and historical information to illustrate event. Sell in Gift Shop and with local merchants. Renovate Gift Shop and room presently designated for the camera equipment. Evaluate results of expanded schedule. Review opportunities for further expansion of hours. 33
