2 Instructions For After Hours Assistance for Domestic Violence Victims 1. The law enforcement departments of St. Louis County have agreed to provide after hours assistance to all domestic violence victims recognized by Chapter 455 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri. 2. According to Section , R.s.Mo., a purported domestic violence victim may seek an order of protection in St. Louis County when: a. she/he is present ( whether permanently or on a temporary basis ) within the state of Missouri; and b. the alleged offender s abusive act(s) have occurred, have been attempted or have been or are threatened within the state of Missouri ; and c. St. Louis County is: i. where the victim resides; or ii. where the alleged act of abuse occurred; or iii. where the alleged offender resides. 3. The St. Louis County Adult Abuse Office provides assistance to victims of domestic violence and stalking. The Adult Abuse Office staff will assist petitioners complete the necessary forms to obtain orders of protection. Advocates are often available to provide further assistance with the forms and are also available to provide information about safety planning and community resources. The St. Louis County Adult Abuse Office is open: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to Noon on Saturday The Adult Abuse Office location and phone numbers are: on the Street Level Room S16 of the St. Louis County Courthouse 105 South Central Avenue, Clayton, MO The phone number is (314) The nighttime (informational recording only) number is (314) A victim of domestic violence who wishes to obtain an order of protection when the Adult Abuse Office is closed should immediately contact the police department of the municipality where she/he resides or where the act of abuse occurred. The victim should call 911 if there is a need for urgent medical and/or police action. This document provides all of the necessary contact information. Participating departments are indicated in this document by a YES under the Department Participation? column of the attached police department roster. 5. For those individuals who reside in a municipality that does not have its own police department, they should contact the department that provides the police services for their municipality (as is indicated in this document). If a domestic violence victim lives in a municipality that does not provide after hours assistance (as indicate by the notation no response ), she/he should contact the St. Louis County Police Department (and select one of the appropriate precincts as described in List #2) or the Hazelwood Police Department (at (314) ). 7. If a domestic violence victim does not receive the necessary appropriate assistance from her/his police department, he/she should also contact the St. Louis County Police Department or the Hazelwood Police Department. If a domestic violence victim does not receive satisfactory assistance from any of the participating police departments, she/he should describe her/his problem(s) via to CircuitCourt@stlouisco.com Revised 04/20/16 3
