1 Come and enjoy this day of celebrating our country, One Nation Under God. You ll hear stirring music that will remind us of America s Christian heritage, in addition to a patriotic message from God s Word, delivered by Dr. Canton. We will have one combined service this day and no Sunday School or evening activities. Don t miss God and Country Day, Sunday, July 3, at 10:00 a.m. in the Worship Center. June 28, 2016 Parkside Baptist Church Volume 30 Issue 5
2 As we enter into the month of July, the idea of freedom readily comes to mind. We reflect upon and honor the men and women who have fought and even died to achieve and continue to preserve our freedom as a nation. This liberty over the tyrants, terrorists, enemies, and oppressors throughout the ages is worth celebrating every year, every day! With this freedom, we live in independence as a nation. Paul reminds us that It was for freedom that Christ set us free (Galatians 5:1). This liberty gained over the tyrannical forces of sin, death, our Enemy, and even ourselves is worth celebrating every day, for all eternity! We are free! But there s more. Paul concludes his thought from the same verse: therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery. To simply celebrate is not enough. We fully realize Christ s liberty only when we do not look back to the life of enslavement that we once knew. And to fully embrace and enjoy this special kind of freedom, we live in dependence on a victorious God every moment, every day! Celebrate liberty. Live free. Stand firm. Don t retreat. Praise the Lord. In His Love & For His Purpose, Pastor Craig 5:00-6:00 p.m. ~ Worship Center Jerry Coffman will be hosting a workshop for senior adults on sharing our faith. For most of us it will be a refresher course; for others, it will be a motivational time designed to stir our hearts to return to the commission Christ has given us. In most Christians, there is a hesitation when it comes to sharing one s faith. Many Christians fail to witness for a number of reasons: They don t know what to do. They don't know what to say. They don t know how to overcome their natural fears. They have low self-esteem or feelings of inadequacy. They fear failure, or They have a lack of concern and genuine love for the unsaved. This failure to share one s faith often creates feelings of guilt. And these feelings of guilt, then, cause one to be even more hesitant about trying to share his or her faith with someone who is lost. A light lunch will be served following the class. Signups for the class will begin the first Sunday in July.
