Wow! This year has been flying; it s hard to believe we are in middle of March already! The Chapter has been busy with activities the last several months since my last message. In November we had Mr. Paul Schweiger, P.E., presented Improving Fish Passage and Public Safety at Low Head Dams. For our January chapter meeting, Mr. Jeff Todd, P.E. gave a presentation on Roundabouts: Coming Soon to a Town near You. Many of our members found these topics to be very interesting and everyone had a good time. You can save the Chapter the cost of a stamp and copying charges by receiving your copy of the Drawing Board by . You need Adobe Acrobat to be able to view the Drawing Board. Just Frank Falzone, E.I.T. at FFalzone@TrafficPD.com with your address to receive your copy.
2 Last month, the Chapter held a tour of Bear Creek Mountain Resort. This was a great tour, our members exposed to just about every facet of the Resort from snow making to the onsite waste water treatment plant to the operation of the ski lifts. Our tour guides Paul and Josh were extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I would like to inform/remind everyone that there is a program on the NSPE s website call Give Back Get Back. If you refer two colleagues, friends, enemies, etc., NSPE will waive your national dues for one year which is a current savings of $140. If you would like more information please visit Thank you for your continued support in the organization, engineering profession and advancement of the licensed practice of engineering. If there is anything that I or any of the Board can do for you, please contact us per the information below. Eagle Scout Dinner Hawk Mountain Boy Scout Council One of our goals for our PSPE chapter is encourage our youth to pursue a career in engineering. We have such an opportunity coming up on May 15, at 6:00 PM, when the Hawk Mountain Boy Scout Council has its annual Eagle Scout Dinner. Each Scout who achieved the rank of Eagle in the past year is paired with an adult who works in the area of their career interest. Many of the boys are interested in engineering, and we are looking for seven engineers who can sponsor and attend the dinner with them. It is a very nice event for both the Scouts and the adults. 16 Advertising is available in the Drawing Board and on the Chapter web site for $50.00 per year. If a company wants to advertise and also place positions available on the web site, then the cost is $100 per year. Historically, this was done by sending out invoices to past advertisers. The process to advertise has been changed and now in order to advertise you should send a check in the appropriate amount payable to Reading Chapter PSPE to Reading Chapter PSPE c/o McCarthy Engineering, 1121 Snyder Road, West Lawn, PA Along with your payment a jpeg file or similar file should be included of your advertisement.
