They are Deborah Ann Bright, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Louis Bright, Sr. of Elizabeth City, North Carolina; Wesley Freeman Brown, son of Reverend and Mrs. J.C.P. Brown of Williamston, North Carolina; and Penny Cheryl George, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Virgil George of Marshallberg, North Carolina. United Methodist Scholarship Awards cover tuition and fees up to $500 and are granted on the basis of superior academic standing, leadership ability, active churchmanship, character, personality and need.

9 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: August 7, 1970 Mr. Gene Clayton, Athletic Director and Basketball Coach of Methodist College, Fayetteville, North Carolina, announces that Don Howard Dantzler of Tabor City has agreed to attend Methodist College and participate in its varsity basketball program. Don attended Tabor City High School where he was a member of the All Conference team and was voted the Most Valuable Defensive Player. For the past two years Don has attended Southeastern Community College where he made the All Conference Team averaging 21 points per game. Don Will enter Methodist College in the fall, 1970 as a junior.
