2 The Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation is now planning for our 26th annual golf tournament. This outing has experienced tremendous growth over the years and has raised nearly $2.1 million to support the mission and outreach programs of Saint Joseph Hospital, Saint Joseph East and Saint Joseph Jessamine RJ Corman Ambulatory Care Center. In the last 12 years alone, the tournament has provided support to the following programs that have built healthier communities: o Appalachian Outreach Program $180,000 This program counsels more than 10,000 Saint Joseph patients each year in central and eastern Kentucky. The Sisters of Charity of Nazareth and other orders provide nutritional, pastoral, and social services to those living in rural counties. o Clinical Pastoral Education $59,000 Hires and trains future chaplains who minister to patients, families and employees. CPE helps future chaplains to integrate their theological and pastoral training into real life situations of human needs and suffering. o Art for the Saint Joseph East Cancer Center $32,500 Provided therapeutic art for patients receiving cancer treatments at Saint Joseph East. o Nursing Scholarships $139,563 Provides one or two-year scholarships to students to fulfill their dreams of becoming a nurse, in exchange for working at a Saint Joseph facility. o Patient Family Assistance Fund $62,867 Program helps with lodging, medicine and other necessities needed by patients or their families requiring assistance during their extended hospital stay. o Women s Hospital $78,075 Funded various projects at the Women s Hospital at Saint Joseph East, including a birthing simulator and NICU feeders, among others. o Saint Joseph Continuing Care Clinic $62,867 Offers primary healthcare services to patients who do not have health insurance or transportation. o Saint Joseph Breast Center Expansion $50,000 All proceeds from this year s tournament will benefit the greatest needs program, which includes: Heart Institute, Oncology, Women s Services and other critical needs of the Foundation.
