1 Everglades High School Monthly Newsletter Gator Family, as we roll into the month of October, there are a number of exciting and important events in store. During this month, we will be celebrating Homecoming Week, which will culminate with our Homecoming Dance on October 13. On October 10, all 9 th and 10 th grade students, as well as self-selected 11 th grade students will take the PSAT. Taking the PSAT in the 11 th grade is the only pathway to becoming a National Merit Scholar. All students should do their best on this exam which will serve as a practice for the SAT and will also provide helpful insight into each student's strengths and areas for improvement. We will hold a parent PSAT seminar to discuss PSAT results on December 19 at 7:00 PM. Finally, the first quarte ends on October 19, be sure to monitor your grades, make-up missing work, attend tutoring sessions for additional support, and speak to your teachers. Students MUST wear their school-issued ID badges at all times while on campus. Student will be provided a temporary ID and assessed a $2 obligation each time they forget their ID. A replacement ID will be provided after the third temporary ID is issued. Students will be assessed a $5 obligation for each replacement ID. Tickets can be purchase in room 399 or online. SGA Meetings: 1 st and 3 rd Wednesdays. Class Meetings: 2 nd & 4 th Thursdays The 2018 HOCO dance is on October 13 from 7-11 pm at the Weston Bonaventure Resort & Spa. IOC Meeting: October 2:50 PM in room 399. SCHOOL COUNSELORS UPDATES School counselors will be visiting study halls to conduct presentations on graduation requirements and Naviance. Small Group counseling sessions will begin in October.
