1 MINUTES COMMUNITY SERVICES COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LA HABRA Wednesday, March 8, 2017 FINAL: These Minutes were approved at the April 12, 2017 Commission meeting. The Community Services Commission of the City of La Habra met at La Habra City Hall at 100 E. La Habra Boulevard, La Habra on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Brown, Felix, Hughes, Praster and Surich. Casanas OTHER OFFICIALS PRESENT: PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Community Services Director Sal Failla and Management Analyst Kimberly Albarian Commissioner Praster PUBLIC COMMENTS There were no public comments. CONSENT CALENDAR MOVED by Commissioner Hughes, seconded by Commissioner Felix, and CARRIED 5-0, TO APPROVE THE COMMUNITY SERVICES COMMISSION MINUTES OF FEBRUARY 8, CONSIDERATION ITEMS A. HEAD START The Commission reviewed the Child Development Manager s Monthly Status Report, the Head Start Cost Reimbursement Report, the Monthly Program Report, and the CACFP report. MOVED by Commissioner Surich, seconded by Commissioner Felix, and carried 5-0 to APPROVE THE CHILD DEVELOPMENT MANGER S MONTHLY STATUS REPORT, THE HEAD START COST REIMBURSEMENT REPORT, THE MONTHLY PROGRAM REPORT, AND THE CACFP REPORT. MOVED by Commissioner Brown, seconded by Commissioner Praster, and carried 5-0 to APPROVE THE 48-HOUR CORRECTION ACTION PLAN, CLASS MONITORING, SUPERVISION CONCERN. AGENDA ITEM NO. YOUTH COMMITTEE The Youth Committee met on March 7 th and Dr. Carrie Belleson, from Southern California University of Health Sciences speaking about her professional path to becoming a sports medicine doctor. Chelsea Roy, Marketing Coordinator from Pacific Advanced Civil Engineering Inc., will make a presentation on Approaching & Talking to Someone You Don t Know at a future meeting. The Youth Committee will be participating in the La Habra 5K Race on March 11 th and will assist with vendor check in, water stations and medal presentation. The Youth Committee will also be participating in the annual Egg Hunt event on April 15 th at La Bonita Park. C. SPECIAL EVENTS La Habra 5K Race will take place on Saturday, March 11 th. Race begins at 8:00 a.m. at the La Habra Market Place. #TEAMLaHabra will take a group photo at 7:30 a.m. at the main stage. The Egg Night Hunt will be held on Friday, April 7 th from 6:00 8:00 p.m. at Westridge Golf Club. $20.00 per person for youth 7 13 years. The annual Spring Family Eggstravaganza will be held on Saturday, April 15 th at La Bonita Park from 8 a.m. Noon. Egg hunts are scheduled from 8:45 a.m. 10:20 a.m. The helicopter drop is at 9:30 a.m. The new Civic Center dedication event will take place in late May or June. The date will be determined when the final construction check list is near completion. ADMINISTRATIVE MATTERS The Vista Community Clinic and Gary Center will have a ribbon cutting and grand opening on Thursday, March 16 th at Noon. The La Habra St. Patrick s Day Chamber Mixer will be held at the new Civic Center in the Atrium Court on Thursday, March 16 th from 6:30 8:00 p.m. Tickets are $15.00 per person. The State of the Community sponsored by the La Habra Chamber of Commerce is on Friday, March 24 th at the Civic Center in the Atrium Court. Tickets are $38.00 per person. Check in starts at 11:30 a.m. and the lunch will begin at noon followed by the installation of new officers and program. COMMUNITY SERVICES COMMISSION MINUTES 3/8/2017

3 ADJOURNMENT: On a motion by Commissioner Felix, seconded by Commissioner Brown, the Commission unanimously adjourned the meeting at 7:17 p.m. to Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. The Commission meeting will be held at La Habra City Council Chambers, 100 E.
