Weekly News May 22, 2017 From Isaiah 43:1 School News *Respect Passage of the Week: In addition to promoting our school year theme from Isaiah 43:1 (see above), our teachers are sharing passages on the topic of respect. These passages will be part of the classroom experience and integrated when each teacher shares his/her week of devotions. This week, Mr. Burgess shares 1 John 4:11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 2 *Racine Lutheran High School DOES NOT approve of any type of Senior Skip Day. If students have unexcused absences, they may receive a 0 for classes that they missed. If you are an athlete, this is a reminder that in order to participate in athletic practices and games, a student must be in school ALL DAY. Exceptions can be granted at the discretion of the athletic director. If you, as parents, know a student is going to be absent from school ahead of time and would like to request an exception to this rule, please communicate this to the coach and athletic director prior to the day of absence. Any doctor/dentist/orthodontist appointments that occur between now and the end of the school year will need a note from that medical office in order to have an exception considered. Thank you for your cooperation as we ensure that student-athletes are students first. *THANK YOU to everyone who made out Veterans Project Dedication a wonderful event! 3 News from the Athletic Office *Congratulations to the baseball team for winning the Metro Classic Conference Championship! This is the first RLHS program to win a title in the Metro Classic. *Congratulations to Caroline Strande for breaking the single season goals record! *The RLHS Trap team competed in the Pheasants Forever Triple Challenge Youth Invite in Manitowoc. The varsity team was 4 th out of 16 teams with a score of 455/500. Matthew Lovdahl was the top shooter on the team with a 98/100 birds. He also was the third place men s varsity shooter. The 4th place squad was Paul Haselhuhn, Thomas Johnson, Matthew Lovdahl, Joe Tate and Alex Wolf. 6 *The Youth Volunteer Corps, a program run through the Volunteer Center of Racine County, Inc. is offering free Summer-Service Learning Camps on a first-come, first-served basis. The camps are free to attendees, thanks to a generous grant from S C Johnson. All students are responsible for their own transportation and must bring a bag lunch and water daily. Applications are now being accepted.
