1 Annunciation School Newsletter February 4, 2015 Annunciationbvm.org - The Lord has been mindful of us; He will bless us! Psalm 115:12 Dear Parents/Guardians, Catholic School s Week was a big success; we are honored to serve and educate your child/ren daily! Thank you for providing a Catholic Education for your children at Annunciation School! Great appreciation is extended to our Home and School members who dedicated a significant amount of time and support to help promote each activity including the Family Fun Night. The students were active participants and celebrated their Catholic faith all week long! Thank you, also, to Mr. Steve Tews and all Athletic Committee members who organized and facilitated the Men s Athletic Fundraiser held January 30, to benefit Annunciation Athletics. It was a huge success! On Monday, February 2 nd, we experienced another Snow Day. Automated phone calls were sent to all parents and staff members to alert you of the closing. The website was also updated to inform you of this important news. Please continue to check the website s home page with important updates and information to keep you informed throughout the school year. Today, at the All-School Mass, Father Patrick encouraged all the children to consider the upcoming season of Lent which will be amongst us on February 18th. He discussed the importance of being disciplined in their spirituality and making time each morning for prayer. Father Patrick also encouraged the children to be disciplined in their school work, athletics, and responsibilities at home. This practice of being disciplined will positively impact all aspects of our lives! As a reminder, please be certain that upon viewing your child s 2 nd Quarter report card that you digitally sign it. This function is located at the bottom of the report card view in SchoolSpeak. Please click SIGN at the bottom of the report card screen by February 6th to complete this function. Thank you for your immediate attention to this important task! If you have not already been checking your child/dren s 3 rd Quarter progress online, via the SchoolSpeak Gradebook, be sure to access this information, via your SchoolSpeak account. Teachers regularly input grades to update you of their performance. February 11 th is the designated Quarter 3 Progress Report period. Should you have any questions regarding your child s progress, do not hesitate to contact his/her classroom teacher. If you have any trouble with the SIGN function of the report card or accessing grades, you may contact Jeune Winkel, our Technology Coordinator at the school s main office number (630) or jwinkel@annunciationbvm.org. This Friday, February 6 th, Student Council is sponsoring a Dance from 7:00-9:30 p.m. for 7 th and 8 th graders. There is a $4.00 admittance fee with a canned good item to benefit Hesed House and a $5.00 fee without a canned good item. We need parent chaperones. If you are willing to chaperone this Friday, please contact the school office in the next two days. There is no school on Friday, February 13th and Monday, February 16th. Classroom teachers will be participating in a full day required Teacher In-service on February 13 th and President s Day will be celebrated on February 16 th. Best of wishes and blessings to our 8 th graders who are preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation on February 14 th! Sincerely, Mrs. Nancy Lullo
