Copies of the new class schedule will be available at the Bookstore for 25*;: per copy. ADVISEMENT WEEK Registration packets for the Spring Quarter will FOR SPRING SET be available during Advisement Week, March 6 FOR MARCH 6-10 through 10, in the Student Services Building. During Advisement Week students should contact their faculty advisor to obtain assistance in planning their Spring schedule. New students planning to register for the Spring Quarter should have their applications in by March 2. YEAR' S HOLIDAY NA/ashinglon's Birthday - celebrated on Monday, February 21, SCHEDULE LISTED will not be observed by the College on that day. 3 "Blithe Spirit" opens tonight, is 8:15 in the Little Theatre. Show time Tickets are available for the Sunday, Feb ruary 20, 7 p.m. Scholarship Benefit as well as next Thursday, Friday and Saturday (February 24, 25 and 26) with a few remaining tickets available at the door for tonight s and Saturday's performances. HEAT TO BE SHUT OFF IN BI, PS AND LC BUILDINGS TOMORROW From 2 a.m. to 10 p.m. tomorrow, Saturday, February 19, there will be a temporary shut-off of heat in the Biological Science, Physical Science and Library-Classroom buildings. The electrical systems within the buildings will not be affected by the heat shut-down. Mary Jane Shoultz(Education) spoke last Thursday to the Psychiatric Nursing Department of Loma Linda University Hospital on "Family- Caused Disturbances. Mrs. Shoultz is also scheduled to speak to Colton High School seniors on "The Mis-Education of the American Woman" on February 22; on February 23 she will address the Norton Air Force Wives Club on "Closing the Gap Between the Behaves and the Behavenots: Replace the 3 R's." On February 24 she will address journalism and English classes at San Bernardino Valley College on "The Feminist Future of the Male Media." James Thomas (Academic Administration) will present a lecture to members of the Redlands Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Church on February 20 on "Impressions of Indian Diversity. George Weiny (Physical Education) presented a film-illustrated lecture to fourth, fifth and sixth graders at Davidson Elementary School on"skin and Scuba Diving and Oceanography" and displaye scuba diving equipment last week. COLLEGE POOL SITE OF NATIONAL SWIM CHAMPIONSHIP MEETS 20 states. The Uptown YMCA was host to one of the competitions of the National Postal Swim Championships at the College Pool on February 12. Over 200 YMCA's participated in the event throughout Final results will be tabulated in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin According to George Weiny who helped coach the Y team, the San Bernardino Uptown Y set 19 team records. He states that "It is very probable that four or five of the Y team will place nationally, ^ (Continued on Page 3) 2

4 SWIM MEETS (Cont'd) with one time by a member of the team becoming a national record." The Uptown Y is coached, in addition to Mr. Weiny, by CSCSB graduate student Clark Yeager. Approximately 60 swimmers, ages 8 to 16 years participated in the meet. Schwitzgebel, Claremont Graduate School, will speak on "Psychologists as a Travel Agent: Designing Good Life Trip." The lecture is sponsored by the Assn. of Psychology Students and is open to all. WEDNESDAY, NOON MUSICALE -featuring student recitals by John Wooton, Ray Etienne, Barbara Noakes, Dawn Toscano, Scott Goodman and Mary Shorb. C-104 THURSDAY, 1 p.m., PS lecture and slide presentation by Rev. Norman P. Roadarmel on "What's Happening in Asia." Rev. Roadarmel will base his talk on his missionary work in the jungles of Thailand and adjacent areas where he served for over 20 years. The event is sponsored by the International Club, which invites the College and public to the lecture. THURSDAY, 1 p.m., PS-10 - poetry reading by Marvin Bell, a prizewinning poet. Mr. Bell is the author of several volumes of poems, among which are A Probable Volume of Dreams and The Escape into You. He was awarded the Lamont Poetry Prize in 1969 for the best book of poetry for that year. A professor at the University of Iowa, Mr. Bell is currently on tour as a visiting poet and comes to Southern California from Louisiana for his CSCSB appearance. Mr. Bell's poems are concerned with America, Jewishness, family, issues, history and the cool wisecrack. The reading is open to the College community and the public, free of charge. The group will sing two major works, one by Carissimi, an oratorio, and the other by John Blow, a contata. The College community and the public are invited. REMINDERS. Members of the State Board of Education Re-Accreditation Team will be on campus February 23, 24 and 25.. On Wednesday, Feb. 23 the Library Listening Facility will present electronic music featuring "Galaxy" for three electronically treated quarter-tone guitars by Bjorn Fongaard and Andrew Rudin's "Tragoedia" for electronic music synthesizer.
