1 BEAU CAMP 2017 Wednesday, August 23 rd Saturday August 26 th, 2017 Beau Camp is a traditional, immersive, on-campus experience, acclimating students to the Student Life and Residential Life of Navarro College. This program will be a fun and engaging mix of essential educational sessions and exciting activities to promote community development and personal growth. EDUCATIONAL SESSIONS Ed. Session #1 Navarro 101 The nuts and bolts of Navarro College, including the mission, purpose, culture, expectations, and technology. Ed. Session #2 Student support- All the tools to help you be the successful student you re called to be. Ed. Session #3- Succeeding Together- Living and learning in community, having roommates, finding your place, getting involved. Ed. Session #4 Be Your Best Self The code of conduct, civility and respect, drugs and alcohol, mental health and resources. Ed. Session #5 - Residence Life Town Hall The basics and the expectations for living in Residence Life. Ed. Session #6 Safe & Secure How to stay safe and keep your friends safe on campus. Ed. Session #7 Connection & Consent Healthy relationships, consent, bystander intervention, sexual assault awareness and prevention. Ed. Session #8 Mapping My Way Locating classrooms and knowing where to go on day one. Ed. Session #9 Steps to Success Tips for college success including: attend every class, get organized, manage your time, study smart, and use resources. ACTIVITIES District President s Welcome - upbeat and exciting welcome to Navarro College and an overview of Beau Camp New Student Dinner - dinner specifically for new students in order to facilitate connections and conversation Parent & Family Reception - representatives from various offices available to mingle and answer questions The Big Red Pep Rally - getting students ready for the game on Thursday, a high-energy night of traditions with the band, cheerleaders, and fall athletic teams Sweet Treat Break - a monotony breaker with ice cream treats in the afternoon on the first full day of Beau Camp BULLDOG BOWLING NIGHT fun social event to give NC employees the opportunity to interact with new students Teambuilding Exercises a morning of exercises, challenges, and games designed to foster interpersonal development and mutual respect through teamwork Beaulympics team-based tournament of lawn and field day type games and activities Traditions/Beginnings/First Lecture after Beaulympics, a night event to celebrate the unity of Navarro College students and hear an inspiring First Lecture

2 The Family That Serves Together strengthening ties with the community, New Students will cooperate in service around Corsicana All Navarro Bulldog Bash as a finale for Beau Camp and as the kickoff for Bulldog Bash and the new academic year, all of Navarro College (Students! Faculty! Administrators! Staff!
