2 President s Welcome Message Dear Members of the, It is with great pleasure to welcome each and everyone to New Orleans for this year s Louisiana Oncology, Andrology, Pediatric Urology, Urodynamics, Benign prostatic hyperplasia, Female Urology, Stone disease as well as a special lecture looking back through the years, focusing on Louisiana Surgical Education: What is Different Now than When We Were Residents? French Quarter Fest to enjoy throughout the weekend. We are honored to have Dr. Charlie Pound, The W. Lamar Weems Professor of Urology and Chief, Division of Urology from the University of Mississippi Medical Center give the keynote lecture on Treatment Options in Men with Node Positive Prostate Cancer. Dr. Dean Assimos, President of the SES-AUA will give also a keynote address on the State of the Southeastern Section. Dr. Assimos is Professor and Chair of the Department of Urology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. When in New Orleans, one never has enough time to taste all that is available. 5 Educational Needs & Objectives Educational Needs academic and community urologists support call coverage through the emergency department leaving open endless possibilities for presentation of urologic disease including calculus management, obstruction, and oncologic disease. Updates by state-of-the-art lecturers provide one of the best methods for exposing dogma and new thought on what has otherwise been deemed settled science. We will be treated to lectures on state of the art reconstructive topics such as management of post prostatectomy ary guidelines. other involved specialties. Urologists will be updated on current guidelines for treatment and management of pediatric urology patients. Further, management of benign prostatic hyperplasia, with current indications and treatment options will be discussed. Exceptional and anecdotal cases will also present opportunities to learn and think unconventionally during our case presentation portion of the program. Educational Objectives Describe recent developments in the medical and surgical management of urology patients. Identify new technologies for the treatment of urologic problems. 3. 15 Biographies Dean Assimos, MD Dr. Assimos is currently professor and chair of the department of urology at the U.A.B. School of medical and surgical management. Dr. Assimos has mentored several medical students, residents, post-graduate students and endourology Ahmed Azzawe, MD Louisiana State University Shreveport in urology and is approaching the end of his intern year. Stephen Bardot, MD is the Director of Cancer Services at Ochsner and a member of Ochsner s Board of Directors, among presentations and lectures to his credit. Dr. Alexander Gomelsky, MD residency at Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine, followed by a fellowship in female prolapse surgery. Gerard D. Henry, MD in erectile dysfunction at Duke University Medical Center. She remained in New Orleans to year resident in urology at the combined Ochsner and LSU program in New Orleans. Benjamin R. Lee, MD Dr. Benjamin Lee, Professor of Urology and Oncology at the Tulane University School of Medicine, has focused his career on advancing new treatments for renal cell carcinoma as well as developing manuscripts, book chapters, videos and abstracts.
