2 CAMPUS NEWS LA SALLE UNIVERSITY'S WEEKLY INFORMATION CIRCULAR MEMORANDUM Jan 11th, 2002 Date: January 5, 2002 To: From: LaSalle Community, Event Hosts & Planners Sarah Hopkins, Director o f University Events Happy New Year! Spring is around the comer and events are on our minds. Many of you host events in the spring. With this being a very popular time, it is important to set your date, time and location for your 2002 event as early as possible to avoid conflicts, room shortages and help us build a comprehensive event calendar. Please forward all available information to our office ( hopkins@lasalle.edu or Box #809). In addition, please your room/space requests to Sam Spoto, Administrative Services. Do not hesitate to contact me (xl837) with any questions about your upcoming event or conference planning on campus. Thank you. Campus News is distributed weekly to foster communication and encourage information sharing among University departments. Articles submitted are the responsibility of their authors alone and do not imply an opinion on the part of La Salle University or the Department of Mail and Duplicating Services.

3 L a S a l l e U n iv e r s it y D irector, U niversity H onors P rogram P hiladelphia, PA / ATTENTION FACULTY We are pleased to announce that the School of Arts and Sciences in conjunction with the Honors Program will bring Parnassus Productions back to the campus this February. You might recall their extremely well received visit last February when they presented Legacy of Galileo to a full house in the Rodden Theater. It was the success of this visit that prompted the invitation to return. This year s production in their Encounters with Genius Series will be Legacy o f Da Vinci. Using the same format as with Galileo, Rusty Bynum will lead the audience through many fascinating years of reminiscences as Leonardo begins the final chapter of his life as an advisor and teacher in the French Court. You might want to make note of the following in your planning for your students this term: DATE: THURSDAY, FEBRARY 7th, 2002 TIME: 12:45 to 1:45 PM (DURING THE UNIVERSAL FREE PERIOD) PLACE: THE DAN RODDEN THEATRE There will not be an admission charge. Details will be forthcoming prior to the date of the performance; this is intended simply as an advance notice to allow you to plan to incorporate this into your schedule for the term, if you so desire, and to encourage your students to attend. Interim Dean, Arts and Sciences Joh Director, Honors Program

12 The A nnual Fund To: Campus Community From: Trey Ulrich, Associate Director, Annual Fund Re: Student Phonathon Date: January 11, 2002 The Fall Semester Student Phonathon was a great success! Over 35 student phonathon callers completed 5,700 calls and the University received $170,000 in pledges. The Student Phonathon will begin on January 22, 2002 and continue through May 4, This year s phonathon has six primary goals: to increase the alumni and parent participation rates, to increase revenue, to increase the number of completed calls, to decrease the number of refusals, to decrease the number of unspecified pledges, and to increase the number of accurate records in the alumni database. In order to accomplish these goals, I need your help in identifying articulate students with excellent communication skills that are looking for an on-campus job. The Student Phonathon Caller position is a work study or budget job that takes place Sunday- Thursday from 6:00 p.m-9:00 p.m. Students are required to work a minimum of two nights per week. If you know of any students that are interested in an on-campus budget job, please forward a copy of the enclosed ad or have them contact me at ext or ulrich@lasalle.edu. Thank you for helping to secure the success of the Student Phonathon! 1900 West Olney Avenue Philadelphia, PA Phone: 2 15/ * Fax: 2 15/
