3 The Interfaith Baccalaureate Convocation The Interfaith Baccalaureate Convocation, formerly known as the Hooding and Honors Ceremony, will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 9, in the Goodwin Hall Auditorium. The ceremony provides the opportunity for a faculty or staff to invest the graduates with the bachelor's hood. Each student chooses the faculty or staff member who has played an important role in their experience at Benedictine. 4 "Advent at the Abbey," sponsored by St. Procopius Abbey and the Department of History, Philosophy & Religious Studies at Benedictine University, will be held from 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 10, at the abbey. The theme of the day is based on Psalm 80, that the divine presence is everywhere and that the eyes of the Lord gaze everywhere on the good and the bad. Advent is a time to turn and look on the face of God, and be saved. The schedule includes arrival and coffee at 9:00 a.m., Lauds at 9:30 a.m., Lecto Divinio at 10:00 a.m., the Sacrament of Reconciliation at 11:00 a.m., Eucharist at noon, lunch at 12:30 p.m., a talk about the day's theme at 1:30 p.m., and a closing prayer and blessing at 2:30 p.m. A free will offering will be taken. Spend a Few Hours with the Sisters during Advent The Benedictine community is invited to Sacred Heart Monastery for a morning of Advent prayer and reflection when Sr. Mary Bratrsovsky, O.S.B., will look at the history and prophecies of Sacred Scriptures when she presents "Mary: "Model of Advent Waiting and Hope," from 9:00-11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 10, and Tuesday, December 13. Please choose the date most suitable to your schedule. Mass is celebrated in the Sacred Heart Monastery chapel at 11:30 a.m. and all are

5 most welcome. Sacred Heart Monastery is at 1910 Maple Ave. in Lisle. Come to the door with the statue of the Sacred Heart in front. No reservation is necessary. There is no cost for the program, but donations are appreciated. For more information, or call (630) Faculty and Staff Can Donate Food During "Fair Trade Finals" Week Campus Ministry will host a "Fair Trade Finals" in lieu of the finals week movie marathon. All week during finals, Campus Ministry will have coloring pages with fair trade facts on them that students can color and enter in a lottery to win a fairly traded bag of coffee. There will also be fair trade coffee in the Interfaith Room for students. Campus Ministry hopes that students can relax and unwind during finals week, but also remember that even during one of their busiest weeks, they cannot neglect the other. One of the simplest ways to care for vulnerable workers is to buy fair trade products. Faculty and staff can help by bringing donations of food to supplement its offerings to students. Although it is not required, if a faculty or staff member decide to make or buy something that has any fair trade ingredients in it, please let Campus Ministry know so we can highlight these products. Please bring your donations to the Campus Ministry office on the fourth floor of Kindlon Hall any time until Friday, December 16.

6 Santa and Mrs. Claus Welcome Children of All Ages to Holiday Breakfast Join Santa and Mrs. Claus for a day full of celebration and fun for the whole family from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 17, on the second floor of the Krasa Center. Santa will visit, pose for pictures and give a gift to each child. Mrs. Claus will read her most beloved Christmas story while Ernie the Elf eagerly demonstrates the art of holiday crafting to all who attend. Santa's favorite superheroes and princesses are also expected to make an appearance. Sponsored by Benedictine University's Student Senate, "Breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus" features holiday movies, games, prizes, a special raffle and a breakfast buffet with all-you-can-eat pancakes and sausage, making Benedictine one of Santa's favorite stops outside the North Pole.
