1 ANTIQUE ENGINE & TRACTOR ASSOCIATION, INC. August 2013 NEWSLETTER Letter from the President Last weekend s summer tractor ride/show/auction was a great success! Please be sure to thank Lenzy and his helpers for putting on such a great event. Two tractor rides Friday, a very nice selection of machinery on show Saturday and a pretty big auction on Sunday. I always like to go to auctions and as usual indulged in a little too much bidding at this one too! Thought I would just get a few tools and take home in the car wrong. I ended up going to get the gooseneck for all the stuff. Before you know it we will have the Fall show upon us. We have the layout figured although new roads have not been graveled as the spring wetness caused numerous disruptions to all kinds of plans. We do have a nicely renovated corn crib, additional hay rack lean-to and the new Jordan Mercantile building. We have big ideas for the Mercantile so please get in touch with Larry and Paul to see how you can help out. We will have a great show again and I look forward to meeting more of you this year. As President I also get saddled with the title of show director so if you have suggestions or questions please seek me out. With these two titles it is a privilege to be your leader and I will make the necessary decisions to keep things running smoothly. This is not to say I will go along to get along. Leadership often requires tough and unpopular decisions to be made. I am not afraid to make some of those decisions and not all of you will agree. I am here for the good of the club and the long term good. I do not want to hear any more third hand anonymous griping about things if you ve got something to say come tell me or sign up to present at a board meeting. We have a fantastic bunch of helpers that always comes out of the woodwork each fall to help put this show on. You will get a well deserved thank-you from me when this is done in September. I encourage more of you to come forward and put in some effort no pain, no gain they say. Step up, be present and helpful. See you around. Mark

4 FALL SHOW NOTES 1. Help is needed for the children s area call Deb and Steve Rogers, Lots of help is needed for the gates. If our 400+ members could work a 2 hour shift one day of the event, we would have it covered. Call Paul Kouski, Tickets are on sale for the Thresherman Dinners. Tickets must be ordered and paid in advance. The dinners have sold out every year so get your order in right away and don t wait until the fall show. There are only 100 tickets per night. Call Larry Goodwin, , Donations are needed for the pie auction. If you are interested in donating a pie to help, please contact Skip Farnum, Items are needed for auction on Saturday. Contact Skip or Vern Mariman if you have items to list in the auction bill. 6. For visitors, tickets prices are $5 for one day and $10 for 3 days 7. Looking for IH-Farmall pedal tractors, combines, trucks, etc. for Fall Show Display.
