The Institute of Lifetime Learning was started in 1974 under the leadership of Mary Margaret Williams. LIFE IN A JAR Thursday, October 16 th Last fall the Golden Tigers visited the Lowell-Milken Center in Fort Scott, KS. We learned about three girls from Uniontown High School that did research on Irena Sendler, an unsung hero from Poland. Irena was a social worker during WWII and helped 2500 Jewish children get out of Poland during the war. They wrote a play about her amazing story. The play will be presented at Cowley College next fall. If you would like to read the book, you can check a copy out at the Cowley College Library. There is also a movie The Courageous Heart of Irena Sendler produced by Hallmark. It is available for check out from the Golden Tiger Office.
