Téléphone : ou » CAMP INFORMATION Spaces are limited, please list in accordance to preference (1-5) *See attached form for camp descriptions* s OKP Autism Services 2019 Summer Groups provide activities that are fun and interesting and each camp is designed to meet the unique needs of children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The one week themed groups are being offered to different age groups throughout the summer. The small group size in each camp allows each child to participate at his/her own pace within the groups. *Due to a generous donation from the Deacon Family these camps are being offered free of charge to families of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. LUNCH: Participants will be required to bring a lunch each day, healthy snacks and drinks will be provided. Excluding the cooking group held in Muskoka (they will make lunch daily). 4 JULY 2019 Theme: Blast off to summer July 2-5 Location: OKP, North Bay (6-11 years old) 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. ; (12-18 years old), 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. children and youth will learn various gross motor and sports skills, along with arts, Theme: Adventures in Nature July 8-12 Location: OKP, North Bay (6-11 years old) 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. ; (12-18 years old), 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. children and youth will learn various gross motor and sports skills, along with arts, s Adventures in Nature (7-11 years old) - 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. A nature based approach to relaxation will be used to promote emotional well-being through group and peer learning contexts. Participants will experience nature through the exploration of local walking trails and outdoor recreational activities. Some of these activities include hiking, fishing, and tent building. Additional team-building activities include nature based scavenger hunts and relay races. Relaxation exercises incorporated into the group include deep breathing, progressive muscle tension, and mindfulness. The above activities will aid in building emotional resilience and problem-solving abilities, which will in turn foster greater independence. 4

5 Theme: Around the World July Location: OKP, North Bay (6-9 years old) 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. ; (10-13 years old), 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. children and youth will learn various gross motor and sports skills, along with arts, Arts Alive (14 17 years old) - 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Youth will have the opportunity to take part in visual art and musical activities. Each day we will explore different forms of visual art, including canvas, collaging, and painting; as well as explore different instruments and collaborate on a variety of sounds. This camp will be an opportunity for everyone to develop social skills while practicing self-expression through fun artistic activities. Tools for self-expression, self-regulation, and self-esteem will be discussed and practiced throughout the week. Theme: Science and Technology July 22 July 26 Location: OKP, North Bay (6-9 years old) 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. ; (10-13 years old), 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. children and youth will learn various gross motor and sports skills, along with arts, Gadgets, Gizmos and Robots (12-15 years old) - 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Children and youth will come together to build various gadgets, gizmos and robots! Each day the children and youth will have the opportunity to create and build various technological items. While working together, children will have the opportunity to develop social skills and build on their strengths with peers. 5

6 (Bracebridge) Let s Get Cooking (10-15years old) 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The group teaches youth to cook, encourages them to try new foods and recipes, and promotes healthy eating habits. It is a great hands on learning experience, and makes teens aware of what goes on in the kitchen. A wide range of valuable daily living skills are practiced through experience in the kitchen. Social and communication skills are stimulated while the group work together as a team to prepare and enjoy delicious foods. Participants get to take home recipes to try with their families. AUGUST 2019 Theme: Get Out and Get Moving July 29- Aug 2 Location: OKP, North Bay (6-11 years old) 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. ; (12-18 years old), 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. children and youth will learn various gross motor and sports skills, along with arts, Theme: Moving and Grooving August 6-9 Location: OKP, North Bay (6-9 years old) 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. ; (10-13 years old), 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. children and youth will learn various gross motor and sports skills, along with arts, 6

8 Arts Alive (7-11 years old) - 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Children will have the opportunity to take part in visual art and musical activities. Each day we will explore different forms of visual art, including painting, drawing, and paper Mache. Each child will have the opportunity to explore different instruments and collaborate on a variety of sounds. This camp will be an opportunity for everyone to develop social skills while practicing self-expression through fun artistic activities. Tools for self-expression, selfregulation, and self-esteem will be discussed and practiced throughout the week. (Gravenhurst) Mindstorm! Lego Robotics (7-12 years old) 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Children and youth will come together to build and operate Lego Mindstorm Robots! Each day a new step or function will be accomplished and kids will get to enjoy the outcome of their work. Once the building is completed, the Lego robots can be programmed and controlled, completing tasks such as moving, stating phrases, or even dancing. While working together, children will have the opportunity to develop social skills and build on their strengths with peers. What a great chance to have fun with robots and work together in a social setting. Theme: Transition to School August Location: OKP, North Bay School Readiness (3.5 6 years old) 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Getting ready to go to school? Having some difficulties with transitions and expectations? Let s work together on these skills and preparation for school! Children will take part in classroom activities such as circle time, structures activities, and peer engagement. Some of the skills we may focus on are taking turns with peers, attending to the teacher, and following instructions and routines. While working on these areas, children will have the opportunity to take part in fun games, exciting activities, and making new friends. This group will provide support related to school expectations and peer engagement. 8
