Cross-country, football, soccer and volleyball seasons are well underway. Come cheer on the Apollos! Varsity home games are listed below. Join Sunset Leadership at the Homecoming Luau Dinner in the Upper Cafeteria and then head to the football field to cheer on Sunset as they face Southridge. All are welcome! For more information on Sunset Choir, go here: For Seniors: Yearbook Baby/Friendship Ads due 10/21: Follow this link for the baby/friendship ad order form (due by 10/21 and payable through the Business Office) and senior picture submission guidelines for the yearbook (due by 11/18): Jostens Orders Begin this month. See calendar below for dates that Jostens will be on-site for seniors to order their cap and gown and other graduation-related items. For all Apollos: IB Exam Registration for May 2017 Exams begins 10/1: Students will learn more in their IB classes. Registration fees can be paid and forms submitted at the Business Office during the month of October. Students are encouraged to register early to avoid the lines at the end of the month. Visits are listed in Canvas (for seniors only), in the College & Career Center or here: These presentations typically last a half hour. Students are asked to sign up in advance in the CCC and must pre-arrange any absence with their teacher. Passes are available in the CCC.

2 BSD Scholarship Nights 10/6 and 10/12. Learn tips on how to find and apply for college scholarships in this BSD presentation, geared toward juniors and seniors. The presentation will first be given on 10/6 at 7:00 p.m. at Westview HS and then repeated on 10/12 at 7:00 p.m. at Southridge HS. Apollo Gear will be available to purchase at Back-to-School night on 10/5, and during lunch and at the concession stand during varsity football games on 10/7, 10/21 and 10/28. Cash, check, credit and debit cards are all accepted. PSAT on 10/15 Register by 10/12: The PSAT will be held on Saturday, 10/15. The test begins at 8:00 a.m. and it is requested that students arrive one half hour early. Priority registration will be given to Sunset students until 10/3. After 10/3, registration will be open to the general public. The cost is $27.00 (payable to SHS) or available at no charge for students on free and reduced lunch and registration runs through October 12 th through the Business Office. Support SHS Concessions! Did you know that proceeds from Sunset Concessions accounts for over 50% of the Sunset Parent Teacher Organization s income? Did you know that every dollar raised by the PTO is invested back in our students and staff? Did you know that volunteering at Concessions is a fun and easy way to get involved? And now student clubs can early money by volunteering while gaining community service hours. If you have a club that is actively fundraising, contact Elisa Bennett at ea_bennett@yahoo.com to see how you can raise funds through Sunset Concessions. Parent volunteers are also always needed and support every sport here at Sunset. Go here to volunteer: Do you Shop at Amazon? Did you know that you can help Sunset when you do? Partial and Full-day Absences Reminder: The procedures are different for partial and full-day absences. Your cooperation really helps the attendance office efficiently keep track of Sunset s 2,300+ students. If your student will be gone for part of the school day (either arriving late or departing early for an excused absence), do not call the school. Your student must bring a written note to the attendance office. If your student will miss the entire day of school, call the 24-hour attendance hotline directly at by 2:30 p.m. and follow the instructions.
