2 P A G E 2 M O O S E T A L E S Administrator s Message Hey all, As always it's a busy month at the Quincy Moose Lodge. So check the calendar and be sure to participate in as many events as possible. Also, remember October is the annual cradle fund month. So let's all get behind this and help raise funds for Mooseheart. In addition, let's start planning ahead. There's been some discussion of hosting a Jack and Jill Invitational pool tournament at the Quincy Moose Lodge. We should think about when we like to do this and get volunteers in place as well as teams. There's also lots of work on the lodge going to be done almost every weekend, especially painting and sealing of the building. As well as a lot of remodeling and cleaning. Please get together with some of your officers and volunteer to help whenever you can. Fraternally, Roy Rawlings WOTM Corner Ladies, On October 3rd, our Mooseheart/ Moosehaven and Community Service committees are having a fish fry. Dinner will be $6.00. See the flyer on the front page. This event will be open to the public so invite your friends to dinner. Our Battle of the Bras has been changed to Sunday, October 11th. You don t want to miss this event. Ladies (or anyone really) enter this contest for $5.00. You will decorate a bra (buy, borrow, or re-use one) for the Men of Quincy Lodge to model for us on Sunday. The men will put on their best run- way moves as they model the bras for us and work for tips. Prizes will be awarded to the Best Decorated Bra, the Best Dance Moves, and the Most Money Raised. All proceeds from this event will benefit the American Cancer Society Breast Cancer Research. This fabulous event will start at 5:00. We will have dinner available also. Please join us on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month for our general meetings (October 7th and 21st this month). We will discuss and plan upcoming events as well as community service projects. See you at the lodge. Moose Legion News The next Moose Legion Celebration will be in Marianna on October 17th and 18th. This is very close so please plan to attend and show how Quincy has fun. There is a lot of fun planned for that weekend. You don t want to miss it! Remember, the Moose Legion meeting has changed to the 2nd Wednesday of each month (October 14th this month). This will also be Moose Legionnaire Appreciation night. Quincy Moose Legionnaires can receive their drinks at 50% off all night for those wearing a Moose Legion item. Quincy Lodge received a grant from Moose International for $5,000 to paint the exterior of the building. Once we pay for the materials with this money, we will need volunteers to help paint the roof and sides of the building. All help is appreciated. Information on dates and times will be forthcoming.

5 O C T O B E R , N O. 8 8 Membership News Welcome to our newest members: Nolan Mulligan, sponsor Bill Mulligan; Joseph Pappadakis, sponsor Davey Sloat; and Sammy Tanner, sponsor Debbie Tanner. Sponsoring, however, is not simply just asking your friends and/or family to join. It s guiding the new member and encouraging them to become active at the lodge. Once they become familiar with the lodge, take the time to explain what their membership means to the rest of the fraternity. Explain about Mooseheart, Moosehaven and our local community service efforts. If you are unsure yourself, stop by our New Member Orientation on the 4th Wednesday of every month at 7:00. As a reminder when sponsoring a new member, make sure that the applicant fills out the applicant side of the application legibly and signs the Obligation of Membership on the back of the form. Furthermore, fill out the receipt on the side of the application, tear it off and provide it to the new member. They will receive an official membership card from Moose International once the application receives a favorable vote from the lodge or chapter membership. P A G E 5 In addition, don t forget about our Bull Moose Program. The latest sponsor of a new member becomes the Bull Moose. As Bull Moose, the sponsor receives his first drink of the night FREE! This continues each night until another Lodge member sponsors an applicant for membership. So join the race to see your name in lights as the Bull Moose! Stop by the lodge to pick up an application today.
