The District has a well-established history of being extremely frugal with finances, but demands for additional materials, services, and facilities still exist in light of the needs of our student population. Over the past several years, voters in the Fort Zumwalt School District have acknowledged these needs and approved a number of ballot measures to address concerns throughout the district, including needs at South High School. Additional facilities and instructional areas, roof replacements and parking lot upgrades, flooring, technology, and classroom renovations are all incredible examples of how our community has responded to student needs by approving ballot measures. On Tuesday, April 3 rd, voters will be asked to decide on Proposition 3, a $35 million no-tax-increase bond issue for our school district. Proposition 3 will allow for a number of things to occur in the District and at South High School to help ensure we maintain and improve the quality education that our community expects for our children. You can find specific information about Proposition 3 at pub.lucidpress.com/zumwaltprop3. I urge you to carefully review this information and take time to vote on April 3 rd. As always, I appreciate your continued support of our students as we strive to provide them with the very best in educational opportunities. Sincerely, Kevin Keltner, Ed.D. Principal
2 FROM OUR ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS CLASS OF 2018 Spring has arrived! Get out and enjoy the beautiful weather. I have been very busy planning all of your end of year activities. Our first big event will be the Senior Class Field Trip to the St. Louis Zoo on April 24th. While the underclassmen are having regular class and the juniors are taking the ACT, you get to go play at the Zoo. You need to get your permission form and money turned in by April 6, We will have a lot of senior events in May as well. This is such a fun and exciting time for all of you. Please make sure you are staying on top of the end of the year activity calendar. I hope you take time to enjoy each and every moment. It is also important to remember that colleges will want final transcripts, so you need to finish the semester strong! I am so very proud of the Class of 2018, and I know that you will enjoy this time and make good choices. Dr.Ticia Garbarini Assistant Principal CLASS OF 2020 Well, Class of 2020 You have made it through three quarters of your sophomore year! Hopefully, cold days are finished and warmer weather is ahead thank goodness spring is finally here! Be sure to stay on top of your grades so that you can finish strong! If any of you are in need of tutoring, A+ tutoring is available each day after school. You do not have to make an appointment, just drop in! Lastly, be sure to get out and enjoy as many Bulldog activities and events as possible! I look forward to sharing your last two months of your sophomore year with you! If I can be of any help, please stop by my office (room 225) and see me. Mrs. Stephanie Goellner Assistant Principal CLASS OF 2019 Class of 2019 have you reviewed your grades recently? I make mention of this because in my discussions with many in our class several students have not been checking these regularly. This is extremely important with the few remaining weeks we have in the semester. To put things in perspective, EOC testing begins the week of April 23 with AP testing starting May 7, followed by final exams. There is still plenty of time to raise your grades; however, now is the time to act. Should you need assistance with your academics please keep in mind many of your teachers are available before and after school as are our A+ tutors. Despite the rain, I have been able to catch several games and see our Bulldogs in action. We are off to a great start; however, we can always use more Bulldog fans in the stands. Best of luck to all of our spring extra curriculars. In looking at the calendar, we have the spring musical April followed by One Acts on May 1st. As always, if I can assist in any way please feel free to swing by my office. Mr. Joe Serles Assistant Principal CLASS OF 2021 Spring is in the air. Funny thing about spring in Missouri is some days it s beautiful, and other days it is freezing! Even with the often crazy weather, I still love spring. I love spring sports, I love working in the yard, and I love that summer is right around the corner! I am sure you are all looking forward to summer as well! Don t let the nice weather and promise of summer bring you down academically, however. Fourth quarter is very busy. Not only will you be finishing up the curriculum in all of your classes, but you will also have End-of- Course exams in English I, English II, Biology, US History, Government, Algebra I, Algebra II (sophomores only). Most freshmen will be taking the Algebra I EOC, and some freshmen will also be taking the Biology EOC. I highly encourage you to try your best on EOCs. These tests accurately reflect how much you have learned your first year of high school! The scores are also a reflection on South High School. Let s show everyone how bright and hardworking our students are here at South! Communicate with your teachers if you have any questions. And lastly, take some time to get outside! Dr. Angie Hahn Assistant Principal
