Box 197 Scotland, GA (229) November 2013 Featured Chamber Members Nominations now being accepted for the 2014 Telfair County Man, Woman & Business of the Year The Business of the Year Award is given to recognize the contribution of a Telfair County local business, organization or agency that has made a positive contribution to fostering and promoting business vitality in Telfair County. The Man and Woman of the Year Awards are given to recognize a Telfair County Man and Woman for their generosity of spirit and volunteerism and long-term community support and dedication. The winner of each category will be announced at the 2014 Annual Telfair County Chamber Banquet which will be held on February 27, Nomination forms can be obtained from the Telfair County Chamber of Commerce by calling (229) or requested by at rogers@telfairco.org or from the Chamber website ; under Programs. 2 Save the Date for the 2013 Christmas Extravaganza Events Christmas in Lumber City Lumber City, GA Monday, December 2, p.m. 7 p.m. Hosted by the Lumber City Womans Club Visit with Santa (Bring your own camera) at the Farm Day Café Building located at intersection of Main St. & Central Ave. across from the Bank of Lumber City. Shopping and Dining with Lumber City Merchants (Many will be offering Christmas Specials) Lighting of Lights 7 p.m. Jingle Bell Walk (McRae/Helena, GA) Thursday, December 5, :30 p.m. 6:00 p.m. (no fee to participate) Bring you Jingle Bells and take a stroll with us thru downtown Helena and McRae, GA. Lineup for walk begins at 5:00 p.m. in front of Helena City Hall located at 7 Forsyth St., Helena, GA and begins promptly at 5:30 p.m. The walk ends at the located at 9 East Oak St., McRae, GA. All ages and groups are invited to participate but children under age 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Christmas Night Out McRae & Helena, GA Thursday, December 5, p.m. 8 p.m. Shop, Dine & Visit with the McRae & Helena Merchants, Restaurants & Churches. Entertainment provided at various locations! 3 2013 Telfair County Christmas Parade Friday, December 6, :00 p.m. Parade Entry Forms are now available. Parade Theme: Inspirational Christmas Rules & Entry Forms can be obtained from: 9 East Oak St. ~ McRae, GA Downloaded from web: Deadline to enter November 27, 2013 This year s parade will be telecasted by WSST- TV, Cordele, GA and aired in over 400,000 households! This telecast is made possible by the following sponsors: Little Ocmulgee State Park & Lodge (Helena, GA) The Merchants & Citizens Bank (McRae, GA) World Outreach Church (McRae, GA) This year s parade theme will be Inspirational Christmas Parade begins promptly at 6:00 p.m. The parade route will begin on Eighth St. in Helena, GA and travels down Oak St. in McRae, GA ending at the Piggly Wiggly. The Chamber invites businesses, industries, churches, civic organizations and individuals to place an entry in the parade (floats, cars/trucks, golf carts, walkers, etc.) Floats only will be judged and trophies awarded for 1 st and 2 nd place. Floats will be judged on: a) Overall appearance b) Special effects c) Creativity/Workmanship d) Use of theme: Inspirational Christmas All entries must pay an entry fee: Commercial $10.00 Non-Commercial $ 5.00 This parade takes place after dark, so as a safety precaution, CANDY THROWING will not be allowed during the parade. Also remember, no entry is allowed to have a live Santa Claus as Santa will be riding on the fire truck. Business by Business
