5 RELIGIOUS EDUCATION DECEMBER 27, 2015 There are NO Religious Education classes on December 27 th. The staff wishes all of our families a Merry and Blessed Christmas! CHILDREN S LITURGY There will be no grade hosting the Children s Liturgy for December 27 th. We wish you all a blessed Christmas! SPECIAL CELEBRATION FOR NEWBORNS In honor of the Feast of the Holy Family, we would like to celebrate the newest members of our parish family. All families who have had a child baptized this past year are invited to attend the 12:30 P.M. Mass on Sunday, January 10 th for a special blessing. A display featuring these children can be seen in the back of the church. Please call Karen at if you are able to attend as there will be reserved seating for families. 6 BUS TRIP TO ATLANTIC CITY The Mario Lanza Sons of Italy sponsor a bus trip every 2nd Monday of the month leaving from Our Lady of Hope (on Eliot Ave) at 9:00 am. The cost is $35. Church of the Ascension - will have a Novena and Mass in preparation for Christmas - Simbang Gabi - December at 7:00 P.M. Also, they will have a Novena Mass in honor of Sr. Santo Nino Dec. 27, Jan.3, Jan. 10 and Jan. 17. On Jan. 17 there will be a Procession at 3:30 P.M. followed by Mass. GRIEVING THE LOSS OF A SPOUSE? A bereavement and support group for widows and widowers will meet on January 5 th in the rectory. For information please call THANK YOU! On October 29 th Margaret Dandola presented her newest book at a writing workshop for the seventh and eight grade at OLH school. She would like to send her best Christmas wishes and thanks to the students, their families and the many old friends who have offered their support and encouragement. Rachel s Gift; A Christmas Journey (Amazon/ Kindle) was written with the students of Our Lady of Hope in mind. She sincerely hopes they enjoy it. SOCIETY OF ST. VINCENT DE PAUL GIVES BACK Our Lady of Hope should share in the profits. For each car, truck or van, running or not. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul will give back to our church $50/$100 per vehicle. Maybe you don t have a vehicle, but a family member, friend or neighbor has an old or neglected vehicle in their driveway that they would like to dispose of. These readings provide us with a great lesson in what it is to be a family. They use words like honor, revere, obey, care for, be considerate, forgive, thank, and most of all LOVE. They acknowledge that it s not always easy to be family, to watch a parent age or lose sight of a wandering child. But they also assure us that there is great reward when we strive to live the lesson. Are we prepared to be this kind of family to our brothers and sisters not only across the dinner table, but also across borders and ideologies and classes? When we say the Lord s Prayer, do we really mean it? Our Father Let s give it a try. S E N I O R P O T L I G H T New Year s Party & Fundraiser & 41 st Year Anniversary The Middle Village Adult Center is happy to celebrate 41 years of providing services to our senior community. Its New Year s extravaganza will be on: Sunday, January 3 rd This year s event will be honoring its beloved instructors whose talents make the Center a very special place. The celebration will include breakfast, Holiday Bingo, ballroom dancing, Jokesercize, cocktail hour, holiday meal of prime rib or salmon - with all the fixings - and dessert. All funds will be used to enhance important services for our senior community and donations can be made acknowledging your favorite instructor/s.
