4 February 28, 2019 Dear St. Teresa Families, Iowa Testing will begin on March 4 for grades 2-7. It is imperative that your child is on time to school this entire week during testing. If the child is late, he/she will not be able to take the test at the designated testing period and will have to miss class time to make up the test. In addition, I ask that you do not schedule any doctor or dentist appointments during this week so as not to interfere with testing. Testing week can be an anxious time for students, as their regular schedule is interrupted and the school day as they know it changes. You can help your child(ren) alleviate some of this anxiety by doing the following: Talk to your child about testing week and reassure them in a positive way. Remain calm and discuss the confidence you have in your child. Give your child a nutritious breakfast each day of the test, but don t make an issue if they refuse to eat. Don t argue or have an upsetting conversation the mornings of testing. Try to keep the morning routine the same. Celebrate the end of testing week for yourself and your child. Please encourage your child to try his/her best on the test. The results of these tests are used in many different facets here at St. Teresa, from determining placement into the Advanced programs to determining if a child is special needs etc. We also use this data to assess our instructional program here at St. Teresa to develop school improvement plans. Thank you in advance for your assistance in this matter. Sincerely, Sharon Willmes Principal St. Teresa of Avila School 1194 Rulison Avenue Cincinnati, Ohio Phone/Fax
