The W&J men s team earned the award for a third consecutive season. The men s squad was one of 99 Division III programs to receive the All-Academic award. There are 416 NCAA Division III schools that sponsor men s cross country. The W&J women were one of 141 Division III schools named out of 390 total cross country programs. For a team to be considered for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team award, they must have completed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional Meet. The team must also have a minimum 3.10 team cumulative grade-point average. Westminster and Waynesburg are the only other schools from the Presidents Athletic Conference to have both teams honored. The W&J women were led all season by junior Erin Long (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township), who became the first cross country athlete in school history to earn three consecutive All-Region awards. Long placed 26th at the regional event and also claimed third place at the Presidents Athletic Conference Championships. Senior Matthew Rudzki (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) won his second career PAC title this past fall and also narrowly missed out on all-region laurels after finishing 38th. Washington & Jefferson is led by Head Coach Mark FitzPatrick {above left}, the 2005 PAC Men s Cross Country Coach of the Year.
