For the school event calendar, please visit our website at For the school sports calendar, including results, please visit our website at NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS Gala 2019 Online Auction: The CCHS Foundation would like to thank everyone who attended the Gala and/or participated in the Online Auction this year! All funds raised through The Gala stay at CCHS to fund classroom grants, the Teacher Impact Fund, and so much more. Winners of auction items and gift certificates will receive ed receipts today. Online Auction item pickup will be in the school lobby this week: Wednesday, February 27 th from 8:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Thursday, February 28 th from noon until 2:30 p.m. Studying in the UK: This event will be held at Charlotte Country Day School on Thursday, March 7 th, from 6:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. The five leading UK Universities (Bristol, Durham, Newcastle, Southampton, and York) will host a Studying in the UK presentation and mini college fair. GENERAL CURRENT ANNOUNCEMENTS No Athletic Bags in the Lobby: As of Monday, February 25 th, no athletic bags may be left at the cubbies outside the front office. The Fire Marshall has informed CCHS that it is a violation of Fire Safety Regulations. These items should be kept in the sports locker rooms, which will be opened each morning before school. The cubbies outside the office are for parents to drop off small forgotten items such as lunches, not for backpacks or sports equipment. Thank you for helping us make our school entrance more welcoming, less cluttered, and safe Re-enrollment Information from MACS: The process for current MACS families to re-enroll for the school year will be online and available during the first week of March. Parents will receive more information from MACS soon via . Heart of a Champion Day: Mark your calendars now for this year s Heart of a Champion Day, which has been scheduled for Saturday, June 1 st. CCHS studentathletes entering grades 9 through 12 are invited to attend this annual event, which offers free sports physicals as well as orthopedic, nutritional, and general wellness assessments. Student-athletes also receive heart screenings that are not offered at routine athletic physicals, to detect health risks before they become issues. Watch for more information and registration soon! Diaper Drive for Mira Via: The Mira Via club is sponsoring a diaper drive which will end on Friday, March 1 st. All diaper sizes are needed and welcomed. Collection boxes will be located in the hallway across from Campus Ministry. Thank you for your generosity! Blood Drive: The Latin Club will sponsor a Blood Drive on Thursday, February 28 th. Please plan to participate if you are able.

3 STUDENT NEWS Amaryllis News: Students, the Cougar Chronicle s literary journal, The Amaryllis, is open for literary submissions through April 1 st. Student-written short stories and poems are welcome and, new this year, comic strips and personal essays. Please send submissions to catholicchronicle@gmail.com. Attention Ms. McManus Junior Art Students: Those interested in taking AP Art next year need to check their and sign up online for a portfolio review this week. Thank you. Rho Kappa: The deadline is quickly approaching for those students who will be initiated into the Rho Kappa Social Studies National Honor Society to pay for their membership. Those students who were invited to join and who have not paid need to do so by February 27 th. Please click on the link to the CCHS web store to pay: Rho Kappa. CCHS Sadie Hawkins Dance: The CCHS Student Council is sponsoring a Sadie Hawkins Dance! The St. Patrick s-themed dance will be held in the gym on Saturday, March 16 th from 8:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Please spread the word and encourage your friends to attend the dance! o Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased in advance only, through the online store. Click here to purchase tickets. o Questions? See below: Q. Do I need a date? A. No! You can come with a group of friends if you want. The idea is to have fun no stress. Q. What do I wear? A. The dance is semi-formal. Girls usually wear anything from a nice dress to a fancy one. Boys usually wear a blazer or sport coat and a tie. You do not have to wear green because of the St. Patrick s Day theme. Q. What if I bring a guest from a different school? A. Guest forms are at the front desk and must be filled out and turned in to Mr. Belk by Thursday, March 14 th. Any guest from another school needs to be at least a high school freshman.

Thank you! CAMPUS MINISTRY Kairos XLIII: Juniors and seniors, Kairos 43 will be held March 1 st through March 3 rd at Camp Thunderbird. Joining us on Kairos XLIII will be Bishop England from Charleston and Blessed Trinity from Atlanta. Get your application in now! Come by the Campus Ministry office to pick up a brochure. Freshmen and Sophomore Cougar Caritas: As Catholics and Christians, we are called to imitate our Lord by joyfully serving others with our time, our treasure, and our talents. One way we do this is by taking part in Cougar Caritas, a cavalcade of service opportunities during school hours in our community. The service day for the freshman and sophomore classes is Tuesday, March 26 th. o Each student will sign up for the service project of his or her choice through Sign-up Genius a week before the project. Details for each project will be located on the Sign-up Genius. Campus Ministry will notify students when projects are available for sign-up. o Bus transportation will be arranged. o Parents: Your child will receive a permission slip through religion class. There will be no formal classes for freshman and sophomores on this day, as teachers also will participate in Cougar Caritas. We ask parents to please complete and return permission slips in by Friday, March 8 th. o We are in need of several parents to assist our faculty and help chaperone our students. COUNSELING The University of Kentucky is hosting a program for admitted seniors and juniors on Tuesday, March 5 th from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Marriott Charlotte City Center, 100 West Trade Street. 5 Sophomore Parents: The Counseling Department will host a Sophomore Parent Night next Wednesday evening, February 27 th at 6:30 p.m. in the Chapel. The counselors will discuss next steps into junior year, and where sophomore students should be in their college search process. CCHS ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION CCHSAA Bag Tag Fundraiser: The CCHSAA is selling personalized bag tags, a fun spirit item and a great way to identify equipment bags, book bags, and luggage. Bag tags will have the student s sport on one side, and name and jersey number on the other. Tags are available for all sports, and also for all clubs at CCHS. A generic version with only the CCHS logo is available as well. Fellowship Friday Fish Fry: The CCHSAA is hosting an evening of fellowship and fun at Charlotte Catholic on Friday, March 15 th from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Please join the Athletic Association in the Cafeteria as we celebrate our fantastic Cougar community! o Online pre-ordering of meals is encouraged! Third Annual CCHSAA Women s Tennis Tournament: Save the date and plan to join us on Monday, April 1 st from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Park Crossing Recreation Club for round robin play and a luncheon benefitting all of our student-athletes.
