Freddy Martin and Andy Poor The 2018 Spirit of Atlanta is excited to announce the 2018 Brass Education team. Returning to lead the team is Director Emeritus and DCI Hall of Famer, Freddy Martin.

His wealth of experience as a musician, educator, and in the drum corps activity is the cornerstone of our brass program at Spirit of Atlanta.

Andy brings 32 years of drum corps experience as a 6-year member of Suncoast Sound, 18 years as a DCI adjudicator, and 8 years as an instructor for various drum corps.

2 Freddy Martin and Andy Poor The 2018 Spirit of Atlanta is excited to announce the 2018 Brass Education team. Returning to lead the team is Director Emeritus and DCI Hall of Famer, Freddy Martin. He will be serving as the Senior Brass Adviser and will play a vital role in the development of the brass program over the entire season. His wealth of experience as a musician, educator, and in the drum corps activity is the cornerstone of our brass program at Spirit of Atlanta. Andy Poor will also be returning to the senior brass leadership team and serving as Brass Caption Head. Andy brings 32 years of drum corps experience as a 6-year member of Suncoast Sound, 18 years as a DCI adjudicator, and 8 years as an instructor for various drum corps. The hornline has seen tremendous growth over the past two years and we are looking forward to continued progress from the brass program under their leadership. Freddy Mar)n and Andy Poor Nate Morris and Steve Rivero New to the leadership team are Nate Morris, who comes to us from The Commandant s Own Marine Drum and Bugle Corps, and Steve Rivero, Director of Bands at Flanagan High School and the commander/conductor of the 13 th Army Band of the Florida National Guard. Both bring experience with world-class ensembles and will be s e r v i n g a s E n s e m b l e Specialists and provide invaluable guidance and support to the brass leadership team. 3 Both have been on the brass staff the past two years, but are taking on an increased role with the leadership team. Daniel Scott is the Director of Bands at Swansboro High School and is an alumnus of the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps and Western Carolina University. Steven Watson, an SOA alumnus, is the Director of Athletic Bands at Reinhardt University and leads the brass caption for Atlanta CV, the reigning DCA Silver medalist. L to R, Patrick Hinton, Kayla Poor, Daniel ScoB, Mike Sessoms, Bryan Sintos, Andy Poor, Daniel Roebuck, Alex Swindle Returning Staff High Brass Returning for their third season on the brass staff are Mike Sessoms, Bryan Sintos, and Daniel Roebuck. Mike is a recently retired music educator following a successful 30-year career in Cobb County, Georgia. He is a graduate of Jacksonville State University and was both a performing and staff member of the Spirit of Atlanta in the 1980s. Daniel Roebuck is an alumnus of the Spirit of Atlanta, Madison Scouts and the Cavaliers, where he was a trumpet soloist for all three corps. Daniel is also a JSU graduate and is currently a freelance trumpet player and educator in the Oxford, Mississippi area. Bryan Sintos was a six-year member of the Spirit of Atlanta and is also a JSU graduate, and currently is a freelance brass educator and professional photographer in the Atlanta area. Returning for her second season on the high brass team, Kayla Poor is completing her Bachelor of Music Education with a Performer s Certificate in Horn Performance from the University of Florida. She was a member of the 2015 Phantom Regiment. Low Brass Returning for their third-season on the Spirit of Atlanta brass team are Alex Swindle and Adam Swan. Both Alex and Adam are alumni of the corps and have extensive teaching experience. Alex is #SpiritBrass2018 3

Chris BenedeG Returning for their second season on the brass team, Chris Benedetti and Nick Walker will be working with the tuba section of the 2018 drum corps. Chris is the Director of Bands at Ohatchee High School in Alabama was a member of the 2011 BlueStars. Nick is an alum of Spirit of A t l a n t a a n d i s c u r re n t l y fi n i s h i n g h i s undergraduate work at Jacksonville State University where is section leader of the famed 20J section. Nick Walker Returning to the brass team but serving in new roles as consultants to the brass team are Patrick Hinton and Clark Hunt. Patrick and Clark are both multi-year veterans of Spirit of Atlanta as both staff and performer. Patrick Hinton Patrick completed his Master of Music in Tuba Performance from the University of Alabama and is currently working as a low brass instructor at the Klein Cain Schools in Texas. Clark is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts in Trumpet Performance from Indiana University and is in demand as a trumpet player across the country. Clark Hunt New Staff High Brass New to the high brass team are, Sean Fitzpatric and Patrick Phillips. Sean was a three-year member of the BlueStars and is currently an extremely active freelance musician and educator in Cincinnati, Ohio. Patrick is a graduate of Florida State University and is the Director of Bands at Satellite High School in Florida, while also maintaining an active Sean Fitzpatrick Patrick Phillips #SpiritBrass2018 4

Low Brass Lastly, we welcome to the Spirit of Atlanta low brass team three outstanding young brass educators and musicians.

David was a five-year conductor of the Phantom Regiment ( ) and was awarded the Jim Jones Leadership Award in Our final addition to the brass team is Keller Shelton. Keller is a threeyear veteran of the Phantom Regiment and is a graduate of the University of Missouri. He has teaching experience with indoor winds groups, Colts Drum and Bugle Corps, and is Band Director in New York Mills Union Free School District in New York Mills, New York.
