1 NCAA Rules & Regulations for Boosters

2 Each Institution Shall: Comply with all applicable rules and regulations of the NCAA in the conduct of its intercollegiate athletics programs; Monitor its programs to assure compliance and to identify and report to the Association instances in which compliance has not been achieved; Cooperate fully with the NCAA and take appropriate, corrective actions when necessary; and Be responsible for assuring staff and faculty members, student-athletes, and other individuals and groups representing the institution s athletics interests comply with all applicable NCAA rules and regulations.

3 You are IF: You are or have ever been a member of an agency or organization promoting the Sooner Athletics Program; You have ever made a donation to the Sooner Athletics Program or to one of the athletics booster organizations; You are assisting or have ever been asked by the Athletics staff to assist in recruiting prospects; You are assisting or have ever assisted in providing benefits to enrolled student-athletes or their families; or You are or have ever been involved in the promotion of the Sooner Athletics Program.

4 Any student in the ninth grade or above regardless of their athletic talent or ability; Any student in prep school and/or junior college; and A prospect remains a prospect even after committing to an institution or signing a National Letter of Intent with OU or any other school.

5 Boosters may NOT contact a prospect or his or her parents in any manner including but not limited to, via telephone, personal contact or ; Boosters may NOT post messages on Social Networking sites (i.e., Facebook, MySpace and others) encouraging prospects to come to OU; Boosters may NOT contact a prospect even after he or she has signed a National Letter of Intent; Boosters may NOT ask current OU students to contact prospects to encourage them to come to OU; Boosters may NOT visit a prospect s school to pick up transcripts, tapes and other recruiting materials for OU coaching staff; and Boosters may NOT, in any way, provide financial incentive to a prospect or his or her family as a way to entice them to sign with OU.

6 I can attend as many athletic contests as I desire to evaluate talent; I can call, write, or send newspaper articles to the Sooner coaching staff regarding outstanding student-athletes; I can offer assistance to the Sooner coaching staff who are recruiting in my community; I can attend a public event but cannot have prearranged contact with prospect(s). Remember: OU is responsible for any illicit conduct by any of its Boosters.

7 An Extra Benefit includes, but is not limited to: Providing the use of an automobile to a student-athlete, prospect or family member; Purchasing a meal or providing a meal at your home for a studentathlete, prospect, family member or friend; Providing discounts on any items purchased by a student-athlete, prospect or family member that is not provided to the general public; Providing a monetary loan to a student-athlete, prospect or family member that is not available to the general public; Providing a ticket to an event (i.e., sporting event, concert, play or other entertainment) to a student-athlete, prospect or family member; Providing discounted housing or rent to a student-athlete, prospect or family member; Providing any professional service to a student-athlete, prospect or family member that is not available to the general public; and Any other gift or benefit regardless of value that is provided because of a student-athlete s, prospect s or family member s association with Sooner Athletics.
