They are regularly scheduled on the 2nd & 4th Mondays of every month starting at 6:15 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the Balgonie Administration Building. Council meetings are scheduled for October are 9th & 22nd Local programs & announcements are not charged. However, you must have a Balgonie Post Office Box # to advertise. 7 Colleen s Dinner GREEK NIGHT We will be having a Greek-themed dinner on the night of Friday October 19th. Menu and prices to follow in the coming weeks, please watch on our Facebook page, ( and in our diner for more updates. GIFT CARDS ARE NOW AVAILABLE We have upgraded from the gift certificates to loadable fit cards they make for great reloadable meal purchases for students and for very pretty gifts. NEW HOURS Starting October 1st we will be open seven days a week from 7:00 am 9:00 pm. We hope to see you bright and early for breakfast! 7

9 Recreation News By Shaun McBain Our annual 2018 Dinner Theatre is right around the corner. This year s play is called A FARCE OF HABBIT. The dates for the production are November 2nd, 3rd, and November 9 th, and November 10 th. Box office tickets go on sale Sunday, October 14 at the Balgonie Multiplex from 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. This year, tickets are $45.00 each. Park your car in order that you arrive and numbers will be passed out at 6 a.m. sharp the morning of the 14th of October. Parking a car and leaving it unattended doesn t hold your place in line. As there is a rental at the hall that Saturday we will be asking people to line up on Railway in the order that they show up. Once all the patrons leave the wedding you can proceed to parking lot in the order you came. Around the middle of October, the committee will be canvassing the town and rural community for donations toward the Dinner Theatre. Our members will begin phoning around the middle of October. Please read the instructions below regarding dropping off food items. Thank you in advance for your co-operation folks in making this event such a success. If you have any questions regarding food donations, etc. please phone Susan at Donations for both weekends may be dropped off Tuesday, October 30th between the hours of 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Balgonie Multiplex. Please use the south kitchen door when dropping off items. If you miss the drop off time donations are accepted at the Multiplex anytime during the event. Please call Kelly at Please put your name on food items when dropping them off. Donation items may also be purchased at Cross Country Foods, your name will be placed on the item and Cross Country Foods wil deliver your donated item to the Multiplex. Cash donations are also gladly accepted. Please drop off at the Town office Cheques made payable to: Balgonie Rec. Board Dinner Theatre. We would like to remind you that this fundraiser brings in approximately $35, into our community. The proceeds this year will be divided between the Recreation Board, Balgonie Swimming Pool, Balgonie Curling Club, the Volunteer Fire Department, the Balgonie Early Learning Centre, Balgonie Playschool, Balgonie Dance and Twirl and the Multiplex. Our event is also looking for volunteers to assist in waitering, waitressing, kitchen duties, etc.; we would be pleased to have you. If you are new to the community and would like to meet new people, this is a great opportunity. 10 Balgonie Fire Department Will be hosting an open house for Fire Safety Week October 13th from 11:00am - 3:00 pm at the Balgonie Fire Hall. BBQ, fire extinguisher demo and a new fire safety education trailer which will teach adults and children about fire safety through the use of props like smoke machines and heated doors that simulate a real blaze in a home. There will also be a working bedroom window to simulate an escape route, an instruction area and a flat-screen TV displaying fire prevention messages. The first-of-its-kind trailer in Saskatchewan will also accommodate residents with accessibility issues. Sparky the Fire Dog will be in attendance! Everyone Welcome. 12 Dinner Theatre Did you know. When purchasing your Dinner Theatre donation at Cross Country Foods, you just have to go to the counter and tell them your name and item, and they will charge you accordingly. Then, they will deliver all the items to the hall for you. No need to look for it on the shelf. All money raised from this event stays right here in town with local community groups. If you are interested in helping in the kitchen or serving tables, please call the office at Greenall High School Community Council Mission Statement The Greenall High School Community Council shall share responsibility for the learning success and well-being of all students in Greenall High School, while encouraging and facilitating parent and community engagement in school planning and improvement processes. How you can get involved: The Council is comprised of voluntary board members. All parents/guardians are welcome and encouraged to attend meetings and/or participate in volunteer activities. Involvement is an excellent way to contribute to and learn about the school and students and meet teachers, administrators and other parents. The annual AGM will be held on Wednesday, October 24th at 6:30 in the Library. Please make sure that all campers, trailers, recreation vehicles, boats, etc. are properly stored for the upcoming season. Please make any necessary arrangements needed, to ensure that they are not on town property. 12
