1 NORTHSHORE INCLUSION PROGRAM PROGRAM GUIDE WINTER 2019 INCLUSION FRIENDSHIP ADVOCACY SKILLS RESOURCES LEADERSHIP RECREATION NIKKIE CHAMBERS - Inclusion Program Coordinator - nikkiec@mynorthshore.org x121 - DDA Contract: # PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE IN PROGRAMS: 1) Complete and Return a 2019 Program Participation Form 2) Complete the Online Registration Form OR Call or Nikkie to reserve your spot 3) Any questions, contact Nikkie Winter Session Dates: January 7 March 22 Check the Class Descriptions for specific end and start dates for classes. Winter Holidays: There is no programming on the following Holidays January 21 (Martin Luther King Jr Day) February 19 (Presidents Day) Winter weather closures: Northshore Senior Center aligns with the Northshore School District weather closures. If the district is closed for weather, programming will be cancelled for the day. If the School District is on a late start, please watch for an , a website update, a social media update, or you are always more than welcome to call the center to find out what is happening. Notes to keep in mind: All classes are held at the Northshore Health and Wellness Building unless otherwise noted in the class description All Participants must be Pre-Registered for classes and activities to ensure appropriate staffing and materials. When a class is full, a Wait List will be opened. You will be contacted if a spot opens up but it does not mean that a spot will open up. Wait Lists help the staff determine what classes should be increased in the upcoming sessions. Due to dietary, allergen, and behavioral concerns and restrictions please do not bring baked goods and other such treats without receiving approval from staff first everyone s safety and well being are our number one priority. Payment: DDA: All classes are able to be paid with Respite Hours. When you complete your 2019 Participation Form it asks for your case manager information. As soon as we have your case managers information, we take care of the billing, and copy you on the invoice when it gets sent so you know it s been taken care of! Private Pay: The Private Pay link can be found on our website, as well as the confirmation page of the Registration form. Payments can be made in full at the beginning, monthly as the session goes on, or invoiced at the end. Combination DDA and Private: We are happy to work with you to bill certain classes to DDA and other classes Privately. Speak with Nikkie to get the plan put together of what is going to be billed where! Scholarship: We never want the inability to pay to interfere with your ability to receive services. However, at this time, we do not have Scholarships available for all classes. Some instructors have offered a sliding scale of Scholarships, but not all have. Please speak with Nikkie about what options are available for you. If you are interested in paying towards Scholarships for others, please speak with Nikkie about what you are able to donate!
2 Day Camp $55/day or 3hrs DDA. Ages :1 w/ caregiver. Bring sack lunch. Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays: Starts1/7 10am-3pm Plan on Day Camp happening every week with the only breaks in programming happening due to weather or a Holiday being observed. Note: Cancellations will be communicated via phone, , Social Media, and Website. New to Day Camp? We re excited you ll be joining us! To make sure all questions get answered please set up a time to meet or chat on the phone with Nikkie! If you don t get a time set up with her before registering, she ll reach out to you to get a time set up. The phone call or visit generally does not take more than 10 minutes, to be conscientious of everyone s time! Unable to hang out with us for the full day? Check out what all happens during day camp, and register for the pieces you can attend! Please note: If you are registering for pieces of Day Camp, it does not include Lunch supervision. If you are planning on attending for longer than 2 individual classes registration and payment for a full day is required. Please communicate absences to the staff as soon as possible by either telling the staff in person, sending an , or calling the main desk to let them know. MONDAY DAY CAMP CLASSES OPEN RECREATION $55/session or 3hrs DDA. Ages 18+. Join us for different types of recreation (walks, structured games, exercise stations, etc). Please bring a water bottle, clothing you can move in, and shoes you are able to walk in, as we will be walking off site regularly. Mondays 1/7 3/18. 11:00 12:00 GOOD OLE USA $55/session or 3hrs DDA. Ages 18+. We ll be learning all about the 50 states! Each week we will talk about 3-4 states, learning about what makes them unique and doing some great activities to dive in to what the culture of each state looks like! Mondays, 1/7 3/18, 1:00 2:00 pm KITCHEN AND NUTRITION $55/session or 3hrs DDA. Ages 18+. Let s talk about healthy snacks, nutrition, kitchen safety, and how to plan out meals. Cooking labs will not happen every week, in order to talk about other parts to cooking. Donations of materials to help offset the cost of supplies are always welcomed. Mondays, 1/7 3/18, 2:00 3:00pm
3 WEDNESDAY DAY CAMP CLASSES ART $55/session or 3hrs DDA. Ages 18+. Work on a variety of projects some very simple, and some that will take us a couple weeks to complete. Many of our projects will follow along with the states being learned about on Mondays! Wednesdays, 1/9 3/20, 11:00 12:00 OPEN RECREATION $55/session or 3hrs DDA. Ages 18+.Join us for different types of recreation (walks, structured games, exercise stations, etc). Please bring a water bottle, clothing you can move in, and shoes you are able to walk in, as we will be walking off site regularly. Wednesdays,1/9 3/20, 1:00 2:00 pm MUSIC AND KARAOKE $55/session or 3hrs DDA. Ages 18+. Jam out on all sorts of instruments, to play along with the music, and then show off your singing skills with songs of your choosing while you get cheered on by friends! Wednesdays, 1/9 3/20, 2:00 3:00 pm FRIDAY DAY CAMP CLASSES OPEN RECREATION $55/session or 3hrs DDA. Ages 18+.Join us for different types of recreation (walks, structured games, exercise stations, etc). Please bring a water bottle, clothing you can move in, and shoes you are able to walk in, as we will be walking off site regularly. Wednesdays, 1/11 3/22, 11:00 12:00 NHWC BAKING $70/session or 4hrs DDA. Ages 18+. Time to get into the Kitchen! We ll be baking all kinds of items some desserts, breads, breakfasts, etc. Fridays, 1/11 3/22, 1:00 2:30 NHWC Friday Outings Register for Community Outings only if you cannot commit to every Friday we will get you on the list, and you the list of specific outings and costs associated with each outing! Plan on having roughly one per month.
4 ADAPTIVE YOGA EXERCISE yoga with Alison Solam. Tuesdays 1/8 3/19. 2:30 3:30 pm yoga with Alison Solam. Wednesdays 1/9 3/20. 3:15 4:15 pm DANCE $90/session or 5 hours DDA. Ages: 14+. Students learn the fundamentals of ballet, jazz and lyrical through dance games, improvisation, floor work and choreography. Taught by Sixth Day Dance Company. Mondays, 1/7 3/18, 5:30-6:15pm EXERCISE fitness. Mondays 1/7 3/18. 4:15 5:15 pm fitness. Wednesdays 1/9 3/20 4:15 5:15 pm KICKBOXING Kickboxing! Gloves and tape for first time students can be purchased on Amazon.com. Thursdays 1/10 3/21, 12:00 1:00PM. MARTIAL ARTS $70/session or 4hrs DDA. Ages 12+. Traditional Asian martial arts. No contact. Emphasis: courage, caring and respect. Instructor Dean Churchill: Black belt: Woodinville Martial Arts, Wranglers parent. Uniforms for first time students can be purchased on Amazon.com Wednesdays, 1/9 3/20, 5:30-6:30pm ZUMBA $90/session or 5hrs DDA. Ages 14+. Zumba is a Dance workout, set to Latin style music. It s upbeat, and you re sure to walk away with a good work out and a big smile on your face. Thursdays, 1/10 3/21. 3:15-4:00pm Classes SPORTS TENNIS EASTSIDE TENNIS CENTER* $70/mo or 4hrs DDA. Ages 14+. Offers added instructor support and reduced class size. Wednesdays, 2-3pm at ETC in Kirkland RECREATION BOWLING $55/session or 3hrs DDA. All ages. Join any time. $4.00/ day payable to Kenmore Lanes. Tuesdays, 1/8 3/19, 4-5:30pm at Kenmore Lanes SPECIAL OLYMPICS TRACK AND FIELD $90/season or 5hrs DDA. Ages 8+ competitive track program with tournaments in April and June. Athletes must be present for a minimum of 3 practices in order to compete. Practices: Thursday 5:30-6:30pm. Location: TBD. Join by 4/6. Specific Practice Information to Follow ARTS ART AROUND THE WORLD $70/session or 4hrs DDA. Ages 18+. Learn about Art from around the world! Tuesdays 1/8 3/19 1:30 2:30pm DRAMA $90/Session or 5hrs DDA. Ages 12+. Learn drama skills and self-expression. Mondays, 1/7 3/18, 4:15-5:15pm GLEE CLUB $90/Session or 5hrs DDA. Ages 12+. Come take class with Shannon, learn to make some music, try out some instruments, work in small groups to perfect your own song, and just have a great time! Fridays 1/11 3/22, 3:15 4:15pm $90/Session or 5hrs DDA. Ages 12+. 5 Activities and Socials INCLUSION LEADERSHIP COUNCIL Take on a leadership role, and join us for our new Inclusion Participant Leadership Council! All participants are welcome. The team will be working on community service projects, helping decide on new programming, helping plan socials, and more. 2nd Tuesday of the month, 6:30-7:30 PM KARAOKE NIGHT Join us for an evening of Karaoke and table games! Bring your song request to showcase your incredible talent! $15 or 1hr DDA January 18 5:00 7:00 PM VALENTINES SOCIAL Make some Valentines for friends and family, work on some other Valentines crafts, play some games, and just have tons of fun with friends! $15 or 1hr DDA February 8 5:00 7:00 PM ST PATRICKS SOCIAL TALENT SHOW FRIDAY MARCH 8 7:00 8:30 PM Join us for a night of games, St Patricks activities, and lots of fun with friends! (There is even talk of a Leprechaun surprise...come find out what it is!) $15 or 1hr DDA March 15 5:00 7:00 PM Sign up early to get on the list! Performances will also include pieces from the Dance Class, Drama Class, and Glee Club. Bring your friends and family for an evening of fun! Northshore Transportation Are you ACCESS qualified (or could become qualified) and take classes on site during the week? NSC has our own transportation department, and are happy to get you on the schedule! Talk to Nikkie for more information. Wanting to take Tuesday and Thursday classes, but getting to and from all the different sites is proving to be too much? Let Northshore Transportation take care of that! They can bring you to classes, and then take you out to Bowling and if we get enough people signed up, we could work on getting a bus out to Basketball from the Health and Wellness Building.
