2 Welcome to Admitted Student Day! Welcome to the University of South Carolina, where you ll find there is more to us than Southern hospitality and sweet tea (though both are plentiful). Multiple events take place simultaneously throughout the day, so you can choose how to spend your time. If you have any questions, please ask one of our event staff. Enjoy your day! 6 Explore Campus VC CAMPUS WALKING TOURS Departing continuously from 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM Location: Visitor Center Take a walk around our campus and learn about student life from our University Ambassadors. You ll hear important campus highlights and have time to ask questions. Tours last approximately 60 minutes and depart continuously. The last tour will depart at 2:00 PM. RESIDENCE HALL OPEN HOUSES (SELF-GUIDED) 11:00 AM 5:00 PM (Shuttles to select halls will begin at 1:00 PM) Location: Around Campus (view page 7 for open halls) Take a look inside several residence halls and see for yourself what it s like to live on campus. Housing staff will greet you in the lobby of open residence halls. All shuttles will depart from the corner of Sumter and Greene streets. Shuttles to Capstone, Green Quad, Bates West and South Quad will run from 1:00 to 5:00 PM. The last shuttle will leave these residence halls at 5:20 PM. The shuttle to Park Place will run from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. The last shuttle will leave Park Place at 4:20 PM. Note: For security purposes, you will be asked to show this booklet before being granted access to each residence hall. WELLNESS & FITNESS CENTER VISITS (SELF-GUIDED) 12:00 4:00 PM (Shuttles will begin at 1:00 PM) Location: Wellness & Fitness Center USC students enjoy free membership at this comprehensive fitness facility. Shuttles will continuously pick up and drop off on the corner of Sumter and Greene streets. The last shuttle will depart the Wellness & Fitness Center at 4:20 PM. CULTURE, DIVERSITY AND SOCIAL JUSTICE AT USC Location: Russell House, Room 315 Learn about the university s commitment to creating a welcoming, supportive and accepting environment through the practice of our Carolinian Creed, services and programming offered by the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs and the university s diversity and inclusion initiatives. LIVING AND LEARNING COMMUNITIES Location: Russell House, Room 303 Living and Learning Community representatives will highlight the benefits and opportunities of living under the same roof with peers who share common academic and/or lifestyle interests. Specifically, you ll learn more about these six communities: Entrepreneurship and Innovation - For students who are interested in developing an entrepreneurial mindset, building creative confidence and fast-tracking connections to help compete in the economy of the future. Galen Health Fellows - For students pursuing health careers who seek the best preparation for the rapidly changing field of health science. Green Quad - For students who wish to foster sustainability and connect their daily routines and classroom experiences to green practices. International House at Maxcy College - For students seeking a diverse community with a focus on world cultures, languages and the promotion of international awareness and understanding. Preston Residential College - For students who want to develop their service and leadership skills through academic, community-building and travel opportunities. Rhodos Fellows - For students drawn to the fields of information, design and computing who want to hone their collaborative, creative and leadership skills in the wide-ranging discipline of digital technology. PREPARING FOR NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION Location: Russell House Theatre, 2nd Floor Find out what to expect and how to prepare for summer orientation. STUDENT LIFE Location: Russell House, Rooms 203 and 205 Discover the many activities available outside the classroom. Topics include: student organizations, student government, and fraternity and sorority life.
