From Mississippi to Memphis, New York, Las Vegas and beyond, the journey traces the rise and fall of Elvis as a metaphor for the country he left behind. Along the way, the Rolls-Royce hosts a star-studded cast, including Alec Baldwin, Rosanne Cash, Chuck D, Emmylou Harris, Ethan Hawke, Van Jones, Mike Myers, Dan Rather and many more. 12 KCTS Mercer Street Seattle, WA INSPIRING A i n fsmarter o r m i n vworld o l v e i n s p i r e turns up the heat this January! Beyond Pluto WED Jan 2 9p When the New Horizons spacecraft traveled past Pluto in 2015, we were dazzled by the breathtaking images it beamed home and by the remarkable new details those images revealed about the dwarf planet. On New Year s Day 2019, the craft will fly by an object beyond Pluto known as MU69 the most distant flyby in NASA s history, at 4 billion miles from Earth shedding new light on one of the least understood regions of our solar system. Quantum Entanglement WED Jan 9 9p Einstein called it spooky action at a distance, but today quantum entanglement is poised to revolutionize technology. Physicists have gradually become convinced that the phenomenon is real two subatomic particles that mirror changes in each other instantaneously over any distance but questions remain. NOVA follows a groundbreaking experiment that uses quasars to find some answers. Island Volcano WED Jan 23 9p In April 2017, Hawaii s Kilauea volcano erupted, obliterating neighborhoods and uprooting thousands of local inhabitants. How can one of the most beautiful places on Earth suddenly transform into a roaring inferno, sputtering molten lava and volcanic rocks the size of refrigerators? NOVA joins scientists and residents alike on a journey to investigate Kilauea s recent spike in activity.
