Carefully review the following information, and call as soon as possible with any questions or concerns.

2 2 CONTEST FEE: Individual school is responsible for sending one (1) check for their ONE-ACT PLAY entry for $475. Send immediately following qualification for the Regional OAP please. It may be wise to make a copy of the check or provide another source for proof of payment during your rehearsal. REHEARSAL & PERFORMANCE ORDER: Rehearsal Order will be in the same order as Performance Order Please arrive at Thomas Jefferson HS at least 30 minutes prior to your Official Rehearsal. Shows will run back-toback, with awards following the final show as quickly as the panel of judges reaches a decision.

3 3 SCRIPTS: Please Overnight Express your script to each of the judges as soon as possible! It is important that you give special instructions that scripts are delivered without a signature. JUDGES: 1. CHARLIE HUKILL (Acting Awards) Address: 1933 Highland Ave., Abilene, TX, Charlie Hukill is Professor of Theatre at McMurry University. He holds a BFA in Theatre from Stephen F. Austin, a MFA in Design and Playwriting from Trinity University and additional graduate work in Fine Arts at Texas Tech. He has been a critic judge since 1980, judging at all levels throughout the state. 2. MARION CASTLEBERRY Address: 202 East Chapman Road, Hewitt, Texas, Dr. Marion Castleberry is Professor of Theatre Arts at Baylor University. He holds a PhD in Theatre and Film studies from Louisiana State University. He has worked professionally as a director, actor, and producer for numerous educational, Regional, and Off-Broadway theatres. Dr. Castleberry was the recipient of the 2011 Texas Educational Theatre Association's Educator of the Year and served as President/CEO of TETA in He strongly supports educational theatre in Texas and has been a UIL one-act play adjudicator for 37 years. 3. RACHEL MATTOX Address: Pepper Lane, Houston, Texas, Rachel Mattox has a MFA in Directing from the University of Houston, a BFA in Theatre Education, Acting/Dance concentration from The University of Texas in Austin. She has been an actress/dancer with the International Theatre Ensemble in Berlin Germany, and with Ashland s Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Ms. Mattox has been a Theatre teacher/director for over 30 years in which she has taken 11 plays to state meet, winning 3 champions. She has conducted acting/directing workshops for TETA, and been a former UIL OAP Advisory Committee member and chair. Ms. Mattox has been honored with the 2005 High School Educator of the Year for TETA, and the UIL Sponsor Excellence Award. Currently she directs in Houston and serves as the Treasure for TETA Board of Directors.

4 4 IMPORTANT PAPERWORK: On the day of the contest please bring: Proof of Royalty Payment Approval of Set Additions (if any) Permission letter for Play Not on the Approved List Publisher s Permission to do a cutting Proof of Contest Fee payment prior to the contest Any pertinent permission(s) from UIL concerning any exceptions you have received to produce your play Highlighted Script (with sound cues) Music Log These documents are required at the time of your official rehearsal and must be given to the Contest Manager. You must also disclose your entire set and properties to the Contest Manager during this time. Eligibility Notice: Since the information is now online, nothing needs to be faxed or mailed. See the UIL Theatre Internet site for the paperwork required for any requested substitutions. However, you must show a copy of the STANDARDS COMPLIANCE FORM signed by your principal or Superintendent at the rehearsal. Critiques and Awards: Awards and critiques will occur soon after the last performance. All company members are required to attend the critique. IF YOU ADVANCE TO STATE: Information regarding the 2015 UIL Academic State Meet is posted on the UIL website at - Information packets will not be mailed to schools or handed out after the Regional Contest. Directors and their students must go to the UIL website for tentative schedule, UT parking, UT campus map and other vital State Meet information. Responsibility for knowing times, dates and sites of State Meet events rests solely with directors and their students. Audience Admission Tickets: $10.00 Good for all six shows. You will be given passes for your company. Please make sure your audience members are familiar with the rules, ethics, and etiquette of UIL educational theatre. BEST WISHES FOR AN OUTSTANDING SHOW!
