2 ACIS Internship Projects Use this manual as a guide to assist you in completing all your ACIS Internship Projects. In addition to the ACIS Basketball Sponsorship requirements, three (3) basic projects and a minimum of four (4) special projects are required. Details for all Internship Projects are outlined in the following pages. REQUIRED PROJECTS Complete the following 3 basic projects by the due dates specified. 1. ACIS School Website Exposure - Bridge the connection between ACIS and your peers. Add the ACIS Basketball logo, provided website content below and ACIS Contest Banner to your Campus Recreation Website. WEBSITE CONTENT: Visit for your chance to win prizes from ACIS Sponsors, including Nike gear and Xbox 360s! NOTE: Additional info about ACIS may be added with approval by ACIS prior to publication on the website. DUE DATE: February 22, 2008 ACIS SCHOOL WEBSITE EXPOSURE REQUIREMENTS: Post ACIS Basketball Logo, content, and ACIS Contest Banner (retrieve the image from Place ACIS Basketball logo, content, and contest logo on a high traffic web page on your Campus Recreation or IM Website (Campus Rec or IM Home page recommended). Link Contest Banner to (you will have to work with your ACIS Contest Banner website administrator to hyperlink the image). Link ACIS Basketball logo to the ACISports.com home page. Display logo, content, and contest banner from February 22 April 21, If listing information about ACIS Basketball Regionals and Nationals, please link to the ACIS Basketball page. Do not modify the logo in any way. (see logo usage guidelines below) Submit website link to ACIS for verification. Print website page and include in ACIS Internship Portfolio. LOGO USAGE: Please adhere to the following guidelines when posting logos online. 1. When resizing logo, DO NOT change proportions of the logo by stretching height or width independently. 2. The program logo cannot be smaller than 2 inches in height 3. DO NOT modify, add or change sponsor logos. Examples of Improper Logo Usage: A. Wrong proportions (stretched width) B. Wrong colors 2. PowerPoint Internship Recap - Create a presentation that highlights your accomplishments as an ACIS Intern. DUE DATE: April 25, 2008 GUIDELINES: Devote at least 2 slides to each sponsorship program and special project on which you worked. Describe program execution & special projects as shown in attached template. Make your presentation visually appealing by inserting photos of sponsors promotional materials and program implementation on each slide (be sure to show lots of student participants). 3 3. ACIS Campus Rep Internship Portfolio Showcase your accomplishments for future employers by compiling your work into an ACIS Internship Portfolio. DUE DATE: April 25, 2008 GUIDELINES: Keep all materials worked on during ACIS Internship for inclusion. For details about what to include in your portfolio, refer to the ACIS Internship Portfolio Checklist on page 9. * Please note that additional required sponsor activation events may be added throughout the semester based on sponsor needs. 5 A. UTILIZATION OF CAMPUS MEDIA 1. Newspaper Coverage Promote ACIS programs and your Intramural Department in your campus or local newspaper. DUE DATE: Articles must be published no later April 25, GUIDELINES: Get your campus or local newspaper to cover ACIS sponsor programs happening in your recreation center throughout the semester. ACIS will provide a press release for you to update with specific information for the events on your campus. Submit the press release to the editor of your campus and/or local newspaper and pitch them the story idea. The idea is to generate as much campus and local newspaper coverage for ACIS programs and your Intramural Basketball program throughout the semester. NEWSPAPER COVERAGE/ARTICLE REQUIREMENTS: Persuade your Campus or Local newspaper to cover ACIS programs happening on your campus in relation your IM Basketball program. Minimum of one (1) published article in either your campus or local newspaper. Include content about ACIS (pull specified content from provided press release). Submit 2 original copies of all published articles to ACIS. website link where article is published (only applicable if published on Campus Recreation or IM website). Save copies of all published articles for inclusion in portfolio. NEWSPAPER COVERAGE CONTEST: The ACIS Campus Rep that has generated the best newspaper coverage of ACIS Programs on their campus between February 11 and April 25, 2008 wins $100! 2. Radio Spots Promote ACIS programs and your Intramural Department on your campus radio station. DUE DATE: Radio Spot must air by April 14, GUIDELINES: Refer to the radio spot template on page 10 to assist you with writing your own radio script. Use your imagination to create an exciting and persuasive announcement that will encourage students to come to the Rec Center and check out ACIS sponsor programs. Radio announcements must include Drive to Web content similar to the example on page 10. RADIO SPOT REQUIREMENTS: Include Call to Action Drive to Web content Location, date/time for events/sampling Mention ACIS and sponsor names Content may include specific ACIS Sponsor event info or info on all ACIS Sponsor programs happening on campus. Submit script to ACIS for approval prior to airing. Must air a minimum of 3 times (more is better!) over a minimum period of 2 weeks. Submit dates and times of all airings along with proof of airing from the radio station. Submit a tape recording of all airings and a copy of the original script. Keep a copy of the script and tape recordings for your portfolio. RADIO SPOT AIR TIME CONTEST! BEST RADIO SPOT CONTEST! The ACIS Campus Rep with radio spot that airs the most times on their campus radio station wins $50! The ACIS Campus Rep with the best radio spot that airs the on their campus radio station wins $50! 3. Campus-Wide s - Many campuses send weekly or daily s to notify their students about what s happening on campus each week. Submit information about ACIS programs happening on your campus for inclusion in that campus-wide ACIS Basketball 4 ACIS Internship Execution Manual

6 DUE DATE: April 14, REQUIREMENTS: Submit content to ACIS for approval prior to submission and inclusion in . QTY: Include ACIS info in at least 4 campus-wide s throughout the semester. Minimum Circulation: All current students with school address. Include ACIS Info: Recognition as sponsor of schools Intramural Basketball program and the dates & times of on-campus sponsor programs. (ie. ACIS provides national sponsors for Gonzaga s Intramural Basketball program. This year ACIS Sponsors are giving away Jelly Belly Sport Beans and Playtex tampons from (insert dates & times) in the Campus Recreation Center.) Forward copies of all s to ACIS. Send messages with ACIS info to your MySpace and/or Facebook friends from school (optional) Print copies of all s for inclusion in portfolio. Submit the official circulation provided by the department that sends the to include in your Special Project Summary Page (i.e. 5,000 under-graduate and 2,500 graduate students) CAMPUS-WIDE S CONTEST: The ACIS Campus Rep that includes ACIS Info in the most campus-wide s wins $50! 4. Create Your Own Blast - Want to do more than just have your ACIS program information included in a weekly campus ? Then create your own blast to send to your fellow students! Work with your campus administration to send out a campus-wide about ACIS sponsor programs and giveaways. If you are unable to get permission to send the to your entire campus, then you must send the to all intramural participants. DUE DATE: April 14, PERSONAL BLAST REQUIREMENTS: Submit content to ACIS prior to sending. Include Call to Action Drive to Web content (See radio spot for content. May also use Poster Banner.) Location, date/time for events/sampling Minimum Circulation: Entire campus or all intramural participants. Track circulation to include in your Special Project Summary Page (ie. 500 Intramural Participants Basketball, Tennis, etc.). QTY: 2 (minimum) Print copies of all s for inclusion in portfolio. BEST BLAST CONTEST! The ACIS Campus Rep with the best blast wins $50! B. SPONSOR PROMOTIONS 1. Poster & Flyer Campaign Designing posters and flyers is a creative way to promote ACIS sponsor programs and events, as well as your intramural sports programs. Create a poster/flyer design promoting all ACIS sponsor programs or just one, it s up to you! Once approved by ACIS post & distribute your posters and flyers all around campus to get the word out about all the exciting ACIS sponsor programs you are making happen on your campus. Post your posters & flyers in your Rec Center, dining halls, student union, dorms, and wherever else your fellow students will see them. The point of your campaign is to create a buzz on your campus ACIS Sponsor programs and your intramural basketball program through simply posting & distributing posters & flyers. DRIVE TO WEB Use content from ACIS Basketball banners, posters and flyers or use the provided Win with ACIS image below to promote ACISports.com Contests. DUE DATE: April 14, 2008 Win with ACIS Image POSTER & FLYER REQUIREMENTS: Create one design that will be used for both your posters and flyers. Print & post at least 25 posters and 100 flyers throughout campus (flyers may also be distributed by hand). Poster Specs: 1) color or black & white, 2) size 11 x17 or larger Flyer Specs: 1) color or black & white, 2) size 8.5 x11 or smaller 2008 ACIS Basketball 5 ACIS Internship Execution Manual

7 Include ACIS Basketball logo. Include Call to Action Drive to Web (content from promo materials or use Banner Ad) Location, date/time for events/sampling Submit to ACIS for approval prior to posting or distribution. Submit a minimum of four (4) photos of posters & flyers posted around campus. Track the number of posters & flyers posted/distributed & locations for inclusion on your Project Summary Page. Print copies for inclusion in portfolio. IMPORTANT: Don t forget to get approval from your school prior to hanging or distributing posters and flyers. BEST POSTER & FLYER CAMPAIGN CONTEST: The ACIS Campus Rep who submits the best poster campaign wins $100! 2. Intramural Sports Buzzer Beater Story Ever thought of being a sports writer? Well, here s your chance! Highlight your school s Intramural Basketball program by attending an intramural basketball game and writing an article about it. Articles will be published on ACISports.com as a featured Buzzer Beater story. In addition to getting your intramural stories about ACIS and your IM Basketball programs published on ACISports.com, you should also try to publish it on your Campus Recreation website. You ll receive a $10 bonus for the first two stories published on the Website, as well as increase your chances of being one of the 3 ACIS Campus Reps selected to come to the ACIS Basketball National Championships! DUE DATE: April 14, 2008 BUZZER BEATER STORY REQUIREMENTS: 300 word story minimum. Describe in detail an outstanding game or play. Include date before first paragraph. Include your name and school at end of article (ie. Brandon Smith, Gonzaga University) Get permission to use real names from the persons and teams featured in story. Use direct quotes from spectators, officials, players, or IM director. Name ACIS as your schools Intramural Basketball sponsor. Ex. During this year s basketball season, which is sponsored by ACIS, Ex. In the 2008 ACIS Intramural Basketball league on campus Include content about ACIS (pull specified content from provided press release). Include photos with article. Photo Minimum: 2 (Action shot, team or individual photos). Include ACIS signage in photos (ie. ACIS Banner in background). All articles are subject to editing and revising by ACIS prior to publication on the website. BEST BUZZER BEATER STORY CONTEST: The ACIS Campus Rep who submits the best story wins $50! $10 Buzzer Beater Bonus: Receive a $10 bonus for each story that is selected for posting on ACISports.com. You can also receive a $10 bonus for up to two stories that you get published on your Campus Rec or IM Website. 3. ACIS Basketball Video Montage- Creating a mini-video brings all the excitement of ACIS programs and your intramural basketball program to life. Create a video montage of your basketball games, ACIS programs and student interviews to highlight how much ACIS and its sponsors impact your Intramural Basketball program. You can even try to get your campus television station or the local media to run the footage. DUE DATE: April 14, 2008 REQUIREMENTS: Submit a DVD copy of your video to ACIS. Clearly Display ACIS Basketball signage in footage. Hang banner in the background of basketball games. Hang banner behind sampling tables and have student workers wearing ACIS staff t-shirts ACIS Basketball 6 ACIS Internship Execution Manual

8 Footage includes basketball games, all ACIS sponsor programs executed on campus and student interviews about why they like having ACIS and the national sponsors on their campus. Include video narration to explain what is going on. Minimum video length of 3 minutes. BEST VIDEO CONTEST! The ACIS Campus Rep who submits the best video wins $100! The top videos will be featured on ACISports.com. C. MARKET RESEARCH 1. Control School Surveys Assist ACIS in acquiring information that will help add new sponsors and retain our existing ones. ACIS will pay you $50, after completion of the project. If you are interested please inform ACIS no later than February 6, DUE DATE: February 22, 2008 and April 2008 (specific date TBD) GUIDELINES: ACIS needs students from schools not participating in ACIS programs to complete surveys so we have a control group we can compare to responses from students on ACIS sponsored campuses. Survey the students on up to 2 neighboring non-acis, 4 year accredited campuses. ACIS will supply surveys and a POSTAGE PAID return envelope for each school surveyed. REQUIREMENTS: Collect two sets of surveys: 50 Pre-Program Surveys (postmarked by February 22 nd ) and 50 Post-Program Surveys (due in April). May conduct control group surveying on a maximum of 2 non-acis campuses in your area. 2. Student Intercept Surveys Student surveys are an extremely important tool for monitoring the year old demographic and are a vital part of keeping ACIS programs relevant and exciting for college students. Throughout the semester ACIS will provide opportunities for you to conduct student intercept surveying. ACIS will provide guidelines, requirements and the survey for each opportunity. DUE DATE: April 14, 2008, if no other date is specified. 3. Focus Groups - Focus groups are an important tool that organizations use to improve the quality of the product or service that they are providing to their clients. In particular, focus groups allow companies wishing to develop, package, name, or test market a new product, to discuss, view, and/or test the new product before it is made available to the public. Throughout the semester, ACIS will provide guidelines, requirements and questions so you may conduct focus groups on your campus. DUE DATE: April 14, 2008, if no other date is specified. D. SPONSOR SPECIAL EVENT 1. Tough Actin Tinactin Toughest Player of the Week Recognize your fellow students during the intramural basketball season and playoffs for outstanding play and sportsmanship. The weekly winner will be named the Tinactin Toughest Player of the Week and awarded with a T-shirt, signed John Madden memorabilia, and his/her picture prominently displayed in the recreation center. 9 ACIS INTERNSHIP CONTESTS AND AWARDS 1. TRIP TO ACIS NATIONALS! 3 ACIS Campus Reps will win a trip to the ACIS Basketball Nationals to assist the ACIS Team with event execution! ACIS will decide which ACIS Campus Reps will be asked to join the Nationals Team based on the following criteria: Overall quality of ACIS program execution. Overall quality of Internship projects completed. Overall quality of ACIS verification materials submitted. Quantity of Internship projects completed (the more projects you complete, the better your chances!). ACIS Program Administrator Recommendations. REQUIREMENTS: For consideration, all ACIS Sponsorship and Internship Requirements must be met. 2. ACIS Campus Rep of the Month: Each month ACIS will select one ACIS Campus Rep to receive this award. Winners will have their pictures and profiles posted on ACISports.com and EasyLink, as well as receive a certificate and ACIS apparel item such as a T-shirt, jacket or sweatshirt. ACIS Campus Reps of the Month are selected based on program performance and ACIS Program Administrator nominations. 3. ACISports.com Web Traffic Drive: In an effort to drive people to our website, each week we will be giving away prizes like Nike gear, cash, trips, and sponsor giveaways. Simply tell your fellow students, school faculty and staff, and even your family to visit ACISports.com and enter to win our weekly online contests. Each Project Deadline, the ACIS Campus Rep that has the most people sign up from their school wins! You can make flyers, posters; send out s, post messages on Facebook or anything else you can think of to get the word out. Each person may enter once per week. Web Traffic Contest: $50 awarded to the rep whose school has the highest number of contest entries for the month. Project Deadline 1: Winner receives $50! Project Deadline 2: Winner receives $50! 4. ACIS Internship Project Awards: Prizes awarded separately for February and March submissions. Projects will be judged by ACIS with the winners work posted on ACISports.com. Prizes will be added to stipends at the end of the program, unless otherwise noted. REQUIREMENTS: To be eligible for an award, all project requirements and deadlines must be met. 10 ACIS Marketing Internship Portfolio Requirements Spring 2008 ACIS Basketball Sponsorship Use the following checklist to ensure your ACIS Internship Portfolio is complete. Be sure to include any additional materials created or published during your ACIS Internship. Use your blue ACIS binder for your ACIS Internship Portfolio. Once you have completed your portfolio, schedule a meeting with your ACIS Program Administrator to review and sign-off on each required section, as indicated below. 11 RADIO SPOT TEMPLATE Use the following guidelines and examples to get you started writing your own radio script. The examples below are just ideas to get you started, so keep in mind that yours should be more creative and thorough. The goal of having an announcement aired on the radio is to generate excitement and anticipation for what you are promoting and to ultimately drive your fellow students to come and check out the ACIS sponsor programs you are working on. GUIDELINES Always type out your script Use single spacing for all dialogue Use double spaces between the speech of one character and the speech of another Type the names of all characters in capital letters Place the time and media in the title (ex: 60 SECONDS, RADIO) Radio spots should be either 10, 30 or 60 seconds long To ensure that your script is either 10, 30 or 60 seconds you will have to use a stop watch or clock to time it while reading it out loud.
