They will be having an early lunch and leaving school around 12:15. They should return by the end of school. Students need to bring 10 trash bags, a water bottle and a LABELED rake. Parent drivers should meet in front of the office at noon for instructions. Thanks to so many of our parent volunteers for stepping up to help with this wonderful service project. It looks like the weather is going to hold out for us! PARENT ASSOCIATION Our monthly Parent Association meeting is this Friday, November 8:00 a.m. We hope to see a lot of you there as we plan for the rest of the school year. Be sure to check out the flyer on page 4 that tells about special Thanksgiving treats for our teachers! ADVANCE NOTICE GRANDPARENTS DAY IS TUESDAY, NOV. 20! Classroom visits will be from 8:00-10:00 a.m. Coffee time and K-5 10:00. K-8 10:30. Invitations will go home soon with students. This is always a wonderful day at Van Dellen! TOWN HALL Pearl Street Campus Monday, November 6:30 p.m. THE 6-8 COMBINED MIDDLE SCHOOL CHOIR CONCERT will be held at Highlands Ranch on Thursday, November 7:00 p.m. Choir students should arrive by 6:45 p.m. dressed in black and white. No blue jeans please! IT S THAT TIME OF YEAR...JUST A REMINDER...SNOW SCHEDULE: Announcements regarding snowy weather or any cancellations of school may be heard over the following TV stations after 5:30 a.m. or the quickest way is to check your or the school TV Channels 4, 7 & 9 Should school be closed, the TV announcement will read: "The Denver Christian Schools are closed. We will not be having late starts due to snowy weather. If you feel your students need to come in later due to poor roads, we will leave that to the parents discretion. IF SCHOOL IS CLOSED, OUR NAME WILL SIMPLY BE LISTED AMONG THOSE SCHOOLS CLOSED!

There will be no Scrip orders taken the week of Thanksgiving. Orders placed on Wednesday, November 14 will be available for pick up on November 28. Need your scrip before then? Reminder - we have a volunteer who is willing to take ReNew donations over to the store every Wednesday! If you have donations, please drop them off in the entry way near the office. Be sure to stop by the store for great holiday selections! Lunch Boxes of Love forms for November are available now. These lunches are made fresh daily including a main course, fresh fruit or vegetable and a home-made dessert. DON T FORGET! Please keep the front of school for loading and unloading only. Do not leave your car unattended. Please do not park in front of business to the west of school. Send in your BOX TOPS! Send in your used printer cartridges and old cell phones! PIZZA FRIDAYS! This week Friday, November 9, Parent Association will be selling pizza by the slice for K-8 lunch. $2.00 per slice Pepperoni only NO SIDES OR DRINKS PROVIDED FUTURE PIZZA FRIDAYS: DECEMBER 14 JANUARY 25 FEBRUARY 22 MARCH 8 APRIL 19 MAY 3 They will not be sending order forms out for this lunch it will be handled like a Donut Day. Just send your $2.00 in this week Friday and the students will go through the line for their pizza. THANKSGIVING regifting FOOD DRIVE: At our chapel on Friday, the K-5 students will be hearing about the shortage in the food pantry at Sox Place. We will kick off a non perishable food drive that will run until Friday, November 16. We are looking for: pasta, spaghetti sauce, canned soups, creamed soups, canned chili, canned vegetables, and canned fruit. Students should bring items into their classrooms. 4 Van Dellen Parent Association Pre-Thanksgiving Bake Sale on Grandparents Day November 20, 2012 BAKERS NEEDED We are looking for HOME MADE baked goods for our Pre Thanksgiving Bake Sale. Please place all items in attractive packaging ready to be sold. Items will be sold in the packaging they arrive in. We would love to offer items that could be used for the Thanksgiving holiday including: Breads, rolls, pies, desserts, etc.... Please NO nuts as we are a nut free school and items should not require refrigeration as we have no way of keeping them cold. The sale will take place on the morning of November 20, 2012 Grandparents Day. Anything left will be sold after school at pick up that day. Please leave all baked goods at the table in the front hallway by 8:00 a.m. on November 20, Items can also be dropped off in the afternoon of Monday, November 19.
5 Gobbly Good Gifts! This year for Thanksgiving, Parent Association would like to show our staff how thankful we are for all that they do! We have asked all staff members to give some ideas of items they could use for their class or classroom. Each gift idea, as well as the teacher s name, will be written on turkey feathers and located on the wall by the front entrance. If you would like to participate and purchase something for any of the staff members, please take that feather off of the turkey and buy that item. The turkey display will be up during conferences and remain on the wall through November 19. You may give them your gift at any point before November 20. THANK YOU!!!!!
