1 Alex P. Allain-Franklin Amelia Bayou Vista Berwick Centerville Patterson West End-Baldwin St. Mary Parish Library Newsletter stmarylibrary.org December 2018 Give your child the gift of a Library Card Do you remember the thrill of the first time you signed up for a library card? Below are a few of the benefits of signing you and your child up for a library card: Children will discover the meaning of responsibility. When checking out materials, they will learn the importance of due dates and keeping items you borrow in good condition. It will give them an opportunity to seek books independently. Allow them to explore our book collections, visiting places they have never been with choices to read for leisure or educational purposes. Having a library card gives access to multiple resources that aid in developing early literacy, information research, and vocabulary skills. We provide a vast collection of educational resources like AR books, informative computer programs, or homework help via HomeworkLA. The Library welcomes you. Let your children become part of the community and hang out in a safe, enjoyable place. It is proven people who visit the library as children, visit it regularly as adults. Regardless if you have a card or not we have fun new programs every month and open WiFi. Best of all, it is free! Contact your local library if you have any questions.
