2 Tournament Schedule The tournament will follow the draw as specified by the ASAA in the Policy Handbook. The location and times of opening-round games will be established once actual teams are determined. The Host representatives will have a home-site game in the opening round. All teams will be playing on Thursday, with games going at 3:00pm, 5:00pm, 7:00pm and 9:00pm. The majority of the girl s games will be in Raymond while the boy s games and all finals will be in Cardston. Exception to this will be that Cardston girls and Raymond boys will have a first round home game. All awards will be given out immediately following each medal round game in Cardston. 2

3 Registration/Team Information Registration will occur online: under the provincial host website registration link. The online forms include a Team Roster, Team Picture, Team History and Team Order Form for banquet tickets. Deadline for registration is Monday, March 12 at. Team photos should be in digital format. (Digital requirements as follows: use a minimum of 3 megapixel camera, use the highest resolution the camera will allow when using a zoom feature, utilize the optical zoom versus the digital zoom). The photo and information will be used in the tournament program, to be delivered to the printers on Monday afternoon. It would be VERY helpful to us if teams that are confirmed or are contenders for a Provincial berth would register online ASAP. Luncheon/Opening Ceremonies The official opening of the tournament will be held in conjunction with the banquet on Thursday, March 15 at 10:30 am in the Cardston High School Gymnasium. Attendance at the banquet/opening ceremonies is compulsory for all team members and coaches. Teams must wear sweats / team attire. Teams will meet in the gathering area 30 minutes prior to the march in. Team photos for the ASAA Yearbook for participating teams will be taken from 8:30 am 10:30 am Thursday in Cardston and after the opening ceremonies in Cardston. Please have your team in uniform and/or appropriate warm-up attire. A schedule for photos will be forwarded as soon as entrants are determined, some pictures will be scheduled before practice times while others will be before and after opening ceremonies. Make sure your team picture has been taken! Registration & Luncheon Fees Tournament Entry Fee: $400 Luncheon Fee: $25.00 Registration will begin at 8:15am at the Cardston High School prior to the coaches meeting. Your official team party consists of all players, coaches, managers, and trainers. You may also include cheerleaders if they are attending the tournament. Seating will be assigned prior to your arrival. All individuals that plan on attending the banquet must purchase a ticket in advance during the online registration process. Invoices will be prepared for teams as soon as they are registered and receipts will be issued on payment. Please make all cheques payable to Cardston High School and bring to the Coaches Meeting on Thursday morning. 3

4 Coaches Meeting The Coaches Meeting will be held on Thursday morning at 9:00 a.m. in the Cardston High School. Please ensure that you have a representative in attendance as pertinent tournament information will be provided and fees not yet processed will be collected. Official Game Ball, Practice Balls & Water Bottles The official game ball will be the Spalding Top Flight 1000 ZK Pro, Size 7 for boys and Size 6 for girls. Warm-up and practice balls are the responsibility of the individual teams and WILL NOT BE PROVIDED BY THE HOST FACILITIES. Water bottles will not be provided this year. Accommodations Rooms have been block booked under the ASAA 4A Boys and Girls Basketball Provincials in the following motels: Cardston South Country Inn (40 rooms) Cardston Waterton Lakes Lodge (40 rooms) (35 minutes from CHS) Rocky Ridge B&B Mt. View (15 minutes) (1 team and parents) Lethbridge Quality Inn and Suites- 44 rooms nd Ave South Hampton Inn- 40 rooms nd Ave, South Crystal Butterfly Bed and Breakfast Raymond 321E 200N Please only book enough for players and coaches and make sure you do so early as the nonbooked rooms will be released Tuesday morning. Team Rooms/Change Rooms Change and Shower rooms will be available at each venue for teams scheduled to play and will be locked as required. Classrooms will be assigned to teams please leave all bags and personal items in the classrooms as there is not room behind the benches. Please note that host venues are not responsible for lost or stolen articles so have plans for the storing of valuables. Coaches and Officials Hospitality Room Hospitality rooms will be available at the Cardston High School and the Raymond High School. Light refreshments will be available. As well as closed circuit TV and Internet access. Concession Concessions will be available at all venues. 4

5 First Aid Teams must provide their own medical supplies and plan to do their own taping but we will have a trainers room set up at host locations where we will have a trained medical person to aid in case of an emergency. All Tournament Organizing Committee members will be available to assist you in accessing further medical attention if such is required. Practice Times Practice times will be available for VISITING teams on Wednesday, March 15 and will be booked on a first come-first served basis. We have very limited space due to the number of teams involved. Practice times will be booked in 45 minute intervals and booking will begin on Monday, March 12 th at noon. We will also have a website where many of the games will streamed online, at Spectator Admission Lanyards will be given during the banquet and must be worn when arriving at a venue. Only those with accreditation will be admitted without charge. Due to possibility of limited seating in the semi or final games passes may only be sold on a daily basis. Daily Pass All passes $10.00 Those wishing passes for all three days can purchase them in advance at a discount for: Adults $ Students $15.00 Students must show a valid student ID. 5

6 Sportsmanship The ASAA, through the Tournament Committee, will significantly increase the awareness of and recognition of individual acts of sportsmanship demonstrated by tournament participants. A subcommittee of five people will attempt to cover as many games/sites as possible and will be making presentations to deserving individuals at the conclusion of that game. The traditional Team Sportsmanship Award will be recognized shortly after the tournament by the ASAA. Rules/Policy It is incumbent upon all coaches and participants to be aware of ASAA policy as identified in the ASAA Handbook. Specifically for this event, these policies include player eligibility (pp 35-38), supervision (pg 46) and basketball (pp 73-83). Discipline and Misconduct Breaches of the ASAA Code of Ethics are treated seriously and, as hosts, we are required to immediately report to the ASAA office any breaches that come to our attention. A portion of the ASAA Code of Ethics states Any conduct, including, but not limited to ejections, fighting and drugs and alcohol use, that results in dishonour to the athlete, the team, the school or the ASAA will not be tolerated (pg 27). Grievance Committee There are two key functions of the Grievance/Discipline Committee at ASAA provincials. The first function is to deal with matters that occur during competition, typically discipline/conduct issues, and appeals that may arise from ejections. The second function is to handle any other matters that arise that require dispute resolution. 6
