ROSE O NEILL LITERARY HOUSE 407 Washington Avenue STARR CENTER FOR THE STUDY OF THE AMERICAN EXPERIENCE 101 South Water Street MATERIAL-ISMS: THE CULTIVATION OF WOMANHOOD & AGENCY THROUGH MATERIALITY 1:30-5:30 p.m. Kohl Gallery, Gibson Center for the Arts This solo exhibit by Washington, DC- based artist Amber Robles-Gordon explores gender, ethnicity, and social and cultural influences using bold colors and diverse materials. DINNER ON YOUR OWN 5 7 p.m. Enjoy dinner at an area restaurant (early reservations recommended) or remain on campus with the students in the Dining Hall from 5-7pm. $13 for adults, $7 for ages ten and under. No charge to students on the meal plan. 2

Entrance fee is whatever you are willing to donate to the Arthritis Foundation for Juvenile Arthritis, and there will be breakfast refreshments for those who attend. BOATHOUSE DEDICATION (RECEPTION TO FOLLOW) 11:30 a.m. 1 p.m. Hodson Boathouse, 445 South Cross Street Join us as we dedicate the College s newest facility, the Hodson Boathouse! Part of the newly imagined waterfront campus, the Hodson Boathouse is home to the sailing and rowing teams and to all water club sports and activities. We will have a ceremony, ribbon-cutting and light reception. Consider staying by the water in the afternoon for the 12th Annual Cardboard Boat Race & Waterfront Fun, hosted by CES. 5 Saturday, September 22 MATERIAL-ISMS: THE CULTIVATION OF WOMANHOOD & AGENCY THROUGH MATERIALITY 12 noon 4 p.m. Kohl Gallery, Gibson Center for the Arts This solo exhibit by Washington, DC- based artist Amber Robles-Gordon explores gender, ethnicity, and social and cultural influences using bold colors and diverse materials. CAMPUS GARDEN OPEN HOUSE 1 3 p.m. Campus Garden (behind 508 Washington Avenue, adjacent to Athey Park baseball field and the Western Shore residence halls) Learn how students apply permaculture principles to create an edible forest garden that grows food while restoring wildlife habitat. Explore the range of fruit trees, nut groves, berry bushes, and herbs and see examples of earthen building, vertical gardening, and rainwater harvesting. Learn about the student beekeeping program and meet the frogs in the natural-lined pond. ENJOY THE CHESTER BY KAYAK OR PADDLEBOARD 1 4 p.m. Hodson Boathouse, 445 South Cross Street Check in at the Washington College boathouse and take the family out on kayaks or paddleboards to explore the Chester River. First-come, first-served. 12TH ANNUAL CARDBOARD BOAT RACE & GET TO KNOW CES WATERFRONT FESTIVAL 1 4 p.m. Wilmer Park and Lelia Hynson Pavilion, 413 S. Cross Street Spend the afternoon on the beautiful Chester River. Let the Center for Environment & Society host you and your family for a fun afternoon. Vote on your favorite cardboard boat. Learn about the Center and all their offerings. Take a ride on the college s 46 research vessel, the Callinectes. This event includes beer and food trucks, music, games, prizes, and more. A fan favorite, the 12th Annual Cardboard Boat Race will begin at 3 p.m. Come early to get a front row spot at the pavilion to watch the excitement. President Landgraf will be our guest judge! Callinectes rides ($5 per person) will take place from the boathouse dock. Sign up at the CES table in Wilmer Park on the day of the event, limited to the first 25 people per cruise. 5

6 Saturday, September 22 26TH ANNUAL PHI DELTA THETA CRAB FEAST 4 7:30 p.m. Wilmer Park 413 S. Cross Street The brothers of Phi Delta Theta will host their annual Crab Feast. All proceeds will benefit the ALS Association and the Maryland Gamma chapter. Tickets can be purchased at the event. Cash/check only. You can also purchase tickets online via Eventbrite. The cost is $35/ticket.
