2 Peek-A-Boo Read With You Wednesdays 10:30 a.m. Peek-a-Boo is an early literacy experience for children ages 0 2. This story time helps parents educate and increase socialization skills of their children through music and other fun activities. Explore important people and movements in art history, then learn to use different materials to create your own masterpiece! All art supplies will be provided. Programs are limited to the first 20 participants. Admission tickets may be picked up at the Circulation Desk beginning one hour prior to class. Children must be at least 4 years of age to participate. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult. 3 Hispanic Heritage Day Saturday, September 15th September 15th through October 15th is Hispanic Heritage Month! Join our special guest, Frances Diaz-Evans, as she leads us into the wonderful world of Hispanic culture. Enjoy a special story time, sample some tasty treats, and craft your own traditional Mexican paper flowers to take home! All craft materials will be provided. 4:30 p.m. 6:00 p.m. OCL is starting a Magic Club! Magic: The Gathering is a strategic card game that has been popular since its inception in Experts and beginners are welcome. Friday, September 21st Friday, October 5th Friday, November 2nd Doctor Who Celebration Saturday, September 22nd -3:00 p.m. Bring your friends and family, and come to the OCL to celebrate one of the greatest sci-fi shows in all of time and space! Enjoy specially-themed snacks, create out-of-this world crafts, and play Doctor Who-inspired games. Feel free to come dressed in your Gallifreyan finest! Everyone who attends will also take home some cool Doctor Who swag! This program is open to all ages. When thirteen year old Meg s scientist father disappears into the universe, she thinks that he is gone forever. Everything changes when Mrs. Which, Mrs. Whatsit, and Mrs. Who invite Meg on a crazy astral search for her dad. This adventure stars Storm Reid and Reese Witherspoon. Refreshments will be served. This movie is rated PG. All children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Stay after the show for a chance to win your own copy of the Newbery Medal winning book by author Madeleine L Engle! Fall-ing for Perler Beads! Saturday, November 17th 3:00 p.m. Fall is here! Come celebrate the arrival of autumn at the OCL, and craft some beautiful fall-themed perler bead charms to take home. All materials will be supplied.

4 Are You Afraid of the Dark? Subarashii! Fridays 4:30 p.m. 6:00 p.m. Teens, if you are a fan of watching Japanese anime, or like to read manga, then Subarashii!! is the club for you! Join us for a creative environment and an opportunity to learn about and experience Japanese culture, art forms, and history. All art supplies are provided, and snacks will be served. Subarashii! is open to all 6th through 12th grade students. Would you like to learn new skills while helping your community? Do you want to add some muscle to your college applications? Come to the Youth Services Desk for an application! Community Baby Shower Saturday, September 1st 3:00 p.m. Attention moms-to-be! Come to the OCL as we host, in partnership with Well Care of South Carolina, a baby shower for all pregnant community members and new mothers. Enjoy food, games, door prizes, and early literacy information. This program is limited to adults only. Do You Want to Be a Friend? In 1775, South Carolina Governor John Rutledge requests Felder s assistance in organizing a militia unit in Orangeburg. Despite his doubts and misgivings, Felder rises to the challenge, declaring, To keep what you want, you have to fight for it. Sergeant York (1941) Saturday, October 13th Released five months before Pearl Harbor, this film tells the incredible story of a hard-living Tennessee mountaineer who changes his pacifist beliefs and brings his sharpshooting skills into action. Through his courage and sacrifice, Sgt. Alvin York earned a Congressional Medal of Honor. York insisted that Gary Cooper play the lead role in this film, and Cooper would win his first Best Actor Academy award for his portrayal of this World War One hero. Dave (1993) Saturday, November 10th In a nation where anybody can become President of the United States, what would happen if a regular guy was given the keys to the Oval Office? Academy Award Winner Kevin Kline stars as Dave Kovic, a mild-mannered man hired to impersonate the President. When a sudden illness waylays the Commander in Chief, Dave s job doesn t end, and he must deal with the complications of fooling an entire country and the First Lady! Watch for cameos by Hollywood personalities and U.S. Congressmen.

Come to the OCL and network with like-minded individuals. A light lunch will be provided. Thursdays, beginning October 4th 6:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m. Jobs for Life is a faith-based workshop which helps adults end employment and understand the dignity of work through supportive community mentorship. Graduates of the Jobs for Life program will complete vocational plans, meet with local employers, be prepared for job interviews, create professional resumes and networks, and realize life plans.
