4 Dear IGC Members, I am happy to be back for a sixth season here at IGC. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome everyone back for the 2018 season. I am looking forward to seeing all of you again soon. As always, I am planning to make changes in the programing and special event schedule and calendar to attract new players and boost overall participation in the program. All the popular events and classes will still be in place but some will have a new twist to keep things new and exciting. I am hoping to have the courts up and running in early May. The spring session will start shortly after the courts open and will consist of both junior and adult classes for all ages and ability levels. Specific dates will be announced as the weather clears up and I have a better idea of the exact date the courts will be open. I will convey more specific information on days and times for the spring session to the membership with phone calls, s and in upcoming newsletters. If you would like me to contact you directly, feel free to me at jbates@igc-il.org. Enclosed in the booklet is detailed information for the summer. You will be able to find class times, session start and end dates, as well as the full special events calendar. Much like last year I am still trying to cater to member needs as much as possible. To create the best possible experience, I have removed the less popular classes. If a class was removed that you would like to see on the schedule please contact me and I will add it back in. If you can t find a class that works for you please get in touch with me. I will do my best to add a class or find some sort of solution. I am looking forward to another great summer and getting all of you involved in the program. See you on the courts, Jason Bates Director of Tennis Page 4

12 Morning Mimosa Tennis Mixer June 3rd, 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Come join the tennis staff for the 4th Annual morning weekend adult tennis mixer. You are welcome to come as a couple or by yourself. The tennis staff will put you into doubles teams for each of the different rounds to play some low pressure social tennis. Drinks and brunch appropriate foods will be served court side. You are welcome to go up to the clubhouse for lunch if you would like after the event. This new event will be a different spin on our usual evening adult mixers. Page 12
13 Ladies In House League This year I would like to try a new spin on our old round robins and try to give those of you that are interested in playing matches an opportunity to do so. I would like to appeal to as many people as possible. This league will be for players of all ability levels. If you are looking to play a higher level of competitive tennis you will be placed on a court with others that are looking for the same experience. If you are looking for a more social game we will accommodate that as well. Players looking for something in between will also have a court to play on. The more people we get out the more fun it will be for everyone. Instead of charging you each time you attend I would like to charge a low onetime fee of $100 at the beginning of the season. With the onetime fee you can come as often as you like and will hopefully encourage people to come on a more regular basis. If you sign up for the league you will also be able to attend the drill that is associated with the league. The drill will be held once a month and is part of the onetime fee. I will also be having it in the evening so those of you that work will be able to attend. We will also be offering some sort of beverage service down at the courts whether it a server or my staff running drink orders. I think this will add to the atmosphere. Below are details regarding the league. Wednesdays: 6:00-7:30 Beginning in Mid-May and ending the last week of August (We may be able to start earlier and finish later depending on weather and interest.) Onetime Fee: $100 Monthly free clinics to those that sign up for the league Drinks served courtside or on the viewing deck Page 13
