4 2 PROSPECTUS 1. The tournaments commence on and the Entries close on Tournaments are open to all colleges and universities. 2. The Prizes are: a) A Shield or Cup is presented to the winning team and the institution of the team shall be responsible for its safe custody and must return it to the Principal, Loyola College, Chennai, on request. b) Individual Cups or Medals, Certificates, Prize money are awarded to the winners and runners-up in various games. Prize money : c) Basketball and Volleyball 1 st Place ` 25,000 2 nd Place ` 20,000 3 rd Place ` 15,000 4 th Place ` 10,000 d) Ball Badminton 1 st Place ` 20,000 2 nd Place ` 15,000 3 rd Place ` 10,000 4 th Place ` 5,000 e) Tennis, Table Tennis, Chess 1 st Place ` 10,000 2 nd Place ` 5, Twelve names for Basketball & Volleyball and eight names for Ball Badminton must be furnished. The teams for Tennis Doubles and Table Tennis Doubles should consist of students of the same Institution.

The eligibility rules to participate in the Bertram Tournaments are as follows: The teams are to be comprised of only bonafide students. a) For Schools : Participants / Teams must produce a bonafide certificate in original duly signed by the Head of the Institution. b) For Colleges : i) Participants representing a college or university in Tamil Nadu must have passed the plus two examination or an equivalent qualifying examination to participate in the Bertram Tournaments. ii) iii) iv) In addition, college team players of Tamil Nadu and Other States must satisfy the current eligibility rules framed by the All India Inter University Sports Board of India. Open University & Correspondence course students are not eligible to participate in the Bertram Tournaments. The eligibility details must be furnished in the enclosed entry form duly attested by the Head of the Institution / Director of Physical Education.

6 4 5. The qualifying rounds for Tennis will begin two days before the commencement of the tennis tournament. The dates for the qualifying rounds will be intimated to all participants. 6. The tournaments will be conducted at Loyola College courts adhering to the latest rules compiled by the respective Games Federations. All the matches will be played both in the morning and in the evening. Tennis matches upto Quater-finals will be decided by the best of 17 games and semi finals and final by the best of three sets. 7. All communications and entries shall be addressed to The Tournament Secretary, Bertram Tournaments, Loyola College, Chennai In all matters concerning the Tournaments, the decision of the committee shall be final. 9. Only outstation teams will be given free lodging (till their last match) and the accommodation will be simple on the college premises. 10. The entry-form along with the entrance fee should be sent directly to The Tournament Secretary, Bertram Tournaments, Loyola College, Chennai - 34, so as to reach him not later than 5.00 p.m. on (Wednesday)

Payments may be made by cheque or cash. 13.
