5 WELCOME The South Texas Career and Technical Education Association is a geographical organization affiliated with the Career & Technology Association of Texas Inc. This Association is Region IX of the 11 geographical areas affiliated with the state Association, and the National Association of Career and Technology Education (ACTE) organization.

6 South Texas Career and Technical Education Association CTAT Area IX The purpose of this Association shall be: 1. To promote and develop the total program of Career and Technical Education. 2. To promote and sponsor programs for professional growth of the administrators, supervisors, coordinators, and career guidance professionals of Career and Technical Education. 3. To support other state and national organizations with related purposes. 4. To aid in interpreting to the public the functions, needs, challenges, and progress of Career and Technical Education.

18 Workforce Training WIOA is designed to increase participation access to training services. Training services are provided to equip individuals to enter the workforce and retain employment. Examples are: *Occupational training; *On-the-job training; *Registered Apprenticeship; *Incumbent Worker Training; *Workplace Training & Cooperative Education Programs; *Private Sector Training Programs; *Skills upgrading and retraining; *Entrepreneurial Training; *Job Readiness training, provided in combination with other trainings described above,; *Adult education and literacy activities, including activities of English language acquisition and integrated education and training programs, in combination with training; and *Customized training. 22 Job Readiness (Soft-Skills) Curriculum Help job seekers in being prepared to get a job. Modules, pre-test/post-test and trainer content 10 modules that include interviewing preparation, social media etiquette to job search and time management. Community partners and businesses validated the training which now includes continuing education credit from South Texas College, and an endorsement by the local Human Resources Management (SHRM) chapter. Attached is a pic of a recent graduate of the program from the McAllen Housing Authority.
