WIA Section 101 (9) Category 1 Has been terminated or laid off, or has received a notice of termination or layoff from employment; Is eligible for or has exhausted unemployment insurance, OR Has demonstrated an appropriate attachment to the workforce, but is not eligible for unemployment insurance; Is unlikely to return to a previous industry or occupation

6 Veterans Initiatives Increase training capacity for veterans including wraparound services Augment AACAP at JBLM to connect transitioning military to WorkSource delivery system Partner with Pac Mountain WDC obtaining $4.8M for training and employing military spouses Assist with JBLM efforts to certify WorkSource affiliate on site

7 Veterans Initiatives Partner with over 55 organizations for Local communities are home base for veterans and their families. We now have the opportunity to repay them and empower them to meet their fullest potential. Partner with the Tacoma Rainiers baseball club for Military Career Fair

18 Let s Talk: Suggestions: Have and communicate a clear commitment and policy framework for serving veterans. Provide training and technical assistance on eligibility, service design and delivery. Continue to support and highlight best practices. Work with veterans as an asset to your employers. Starting with the VA and DoD, build more effective partnerships that include local service providers. Research and develop an outreach system that is able to deal with a very mobile client base. Consider a tool more focused on Veterans Services than the current Service Locator. Develop a Veterans Service Check List. Research and develop strategies to serve members of the Reserves and National Guard.
